How to turn off auto-update tabs in Chrome

Chrome automatically refreshes open tabs when you return to them after a few minutes - forcing you to wait for the pages to load. In order not to waste time, especially when working with a large number of tabs, disable their auto-update.

Previously, the corresponding function could be deactivated in the hidden settings section of the browser, but in Chrome 75.0 this option was removed. Now it is no longer possible to prevent automatic updating of open tabs by standard means, but this can be done using a special extension.

• Go to the Chrome Web Store.
• Click the "Install" button and then "Install the extension".
• Activate the plugin by clicking on its icon in the menu bar.
