It took Instagram developers six long years to implement image and video scaling.

On the official Instagram account on Twitter, there was a message that today's update to the iOS app will add the ability to use a standard pinch to zoom in an image. The innovation will work in the feed, user profiles and when viewing random posts in the Explore section. Videos can be viewed in the same way.
It's worth noting that the maximum width for Instagram photos is 1,080 pixels. Now developers have reason to think about increasing this value, because users will be able to see pictures and videos in great detail. In addition, the capabilities of the cameras of modern smartphones have long exceeded the limits set by the social network.
Image scaling while viewing was introduced in the iOS version of the application. Android smartphone owners will have to wait a few more weeks. In addition, the new function does not work for all users yet and will be added gradually, but only after the client is updated.
