Music returned to the official VKontakte application for iOS

A year and a half later, the official client of the VKontakte social network for iOS again received the ability to play music. This time licensed.

Today, a new version of the official client of the VKontakte social network has become available for download in the App Store. The only change in version 2.8.1 is the return of the music section.

The ability to listen to music in the VKontakte application disappeared back in 2015 at the request of Apple, otherwise the client of the social network was threatened with disappearance from the App Store. It took VKontakte management a year and a half to reach an agreement with the copyright holders represented by Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Now the music is officially back: the section "Audio recordings" and the ability to listen to songs are available.

There are no more advanced features in this update, but amid rumors of a possible launch of a paid music service based on the social network, a global update will not take long.

To access VKontakte music from your mobile Apple device, you need to update the application using the App Store. The version for iPhone and iPod touch has already been updated, iPad is on its way.
