By the type of device, blenders are divided into two types: submersible and stationary. Submersibles are taken in the hand and mix the contents of a vessel. The stationary ones stand on the table and have their own mixing jug. Philips HR3752 is a full-fledged stationary device of impressive size and volume of 1.8 liters.

A power of 1,400 W means that our blender can handle anything: for ice and nuts, 800 W is usually enough, and devices with 1,000 W, as a rule, can even cope with kneading dough.

A stationary blender is a serious device that cannot be stowed away in a small drawer. He will have to allocate space on a table or shelf with an area of at least 20 × 20 cm. The noise level is appropriate. The blender works loudly, and making a quick cocktail before going to work without waking anyone is unlikely to come out. Combine making a smoothie with a phone call too.

Plhilips HR3752 weighs more than 4 kg and stands on rubberized sticky legs. It won't shake and you won't have to hold it.

The electric motor block is made of fairly easily soiled metal. It does not collect stains from fingers, but as a new one it stopped looking quickly: in some places it barely darkened, although we almost never used it.

The jug is made of tritan, a polyester commonly used in drinking bottles and containers. It is shock and heat resistant. This jug is difficult to break and is dishwasher safe.

Modes of operation

Philips HR3752 Review: Potentiometer and Buttons
Philips HR3752 Review: Potentiometer and Buttons

On the dashboard there is a palm-sized potentiometer ring with On, Off positions and intensity adjustment, as well as four buttons for different modes. The first time, we trusted our intuition and, without reading the instructions, did everything wrong. We got the smoothie, but, perhaps, in the most boring way - as if we were facing the most ordinary blender, which only knows how to twirl the knives at the bottom of the jug. To get the most out of the Philips HR3752, I had to study the button assignments.

  • Potentiometer. Before working, it must be set to On. This will turn on the device, but mixing will not start. The dynamic slider affects the mixing intensity. To prepare a regular smoothie, you can only use the potentiometer, without resorting to buttons.
  • Vacuum button. When pressed, the blender will begin to pump air out of the jug, but will not proceed to mixing. After the end of the evacuation, you can prepare a cocktail by turning the potentiometer ring or turning on the "P" mode, which is described below.
  • Vacuum and mixing button. When pressed, the blender will evacuate the air and proceed to mix the cocktail on its own.
  • Pulse mode button (the same "P" mode). In this mode, the blender is protected from overheating by alternating intensive mixing intermittently.
  • Ice pick button. Everything is clear here.

In the manual, you can find many notes and warnings, which we naturally did not pay attention to when we first used it. For example, they put a whole banana in a jug instead of pre-cutting it into small pieces. The blender did it, but it will probably last longer if done correctly: put ingredients cut into small pieces into the jug, do not pour anything with a temperature higher than 40 ºC into it, and do not wash the vacuum module under running water.

Vacuum mixing

If you leave a sliced apple on the table, it will darken. This is due to the contact of the fruit with oxygen. The same thing happens with a smoothie, which is why it does not seem so fresh and bitter after a few hours after preparation.

Manufacturers of vacuum blenders also talk about preserving the beneficial properties of fruits, berries and vegetables that do not come into contact with oxygen when mixing. The product page says that this is confirmed by research from the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. Doctors, however, relate How manufacturers of blenders and juicers deceive us: the nutritionist explains skeptically to such statements. Therefore, we will focus primarily on the taste and appearance of drinks.

In theory, vacuum-blended cocktails stay fresh longer, have a smoother texture and less foam. Do not forget: what you cook will still come into contact with the air with the top layer of the drink and during pouring.

Lifehacker test

We tried mixing smoothies in two ways: classic and vacuum. The results were compared two hours later.

We mixed in a blender all the greens that we found in the office, guided by the assumption: separately tasty products together cannot be tasteless. This is how we got a weird apple, celery, avocado and spinach smoothie. Water was used as a liquid.

Here's what we got:

The differences between smoothies are immediately visible: there are bubbles in those that are mixed in the traditional way. There are no obvious differences in taste.

After a couple of hours, nothing has changed. Only the traditional cocktail seemed a little more sour. But this sensation could be far-fetched, so we are not ready to give a verdict of vacuum mixing technology.

A little later, we mixed oranges, ice cream, ice pre-crushed in a blender, frozen strawberries and orange juice in a vacuum. This smoothie has already turned out to be delicious - we advise you to try it. If you like alcoholic cocktails, you can add some good vodka to the blender when preparing this drink.

Philips HR3752 review: General view

This is a serious device that can come in handy in a large family or small office. Such a unit is not for a small kitchen. Its purchase is not justified if you are preparing smoothies from time to time.

The advantage of vacuum mixing is a controversial issue. Cocktails made in different ways, immediately after preparation, differ from each other only in texture. The difference can be felt only after some time. And if you care primarily about the benefits, then it is better to eat whole fruits and vegetables.

Philips HR3752 is for those who do not recognize half measures, cannot live without smoothies and gazpacho, prepares drinks for several people and is used to taking equipment that, although it belongs to the amateur category, can do everything that can be required of it. The cost of a blender differs slightly in different stores and is about 25 thousand rubles.
