The browser has learned to block the attempts of sites to cash in on the performance of your computer.

Opera 50 introduces protection against cryptojacking - secret mining of cryptocurrencies by sites you visit. The browser blocks resources from the NoCoin list, a constantly updated project on GitHub.

To enable protection against hidden mining, activate the built-in ad blocker in Opera's settings. If for one reason or another you want to see ads on sites, then just leave a tick in front of the NoCoin item.

Cryptojacking has started to be used relatively recently as an alternative to traditional advertising. When you enter a site that uses this method of generating income, the computer starts to warm up and slow down: for mining, the resource actively uses the central processor.

According to the study Cryptojacking surges in popularity growing by 31% over the past month by AdGuard, published in November 2017, mining scripts are installed on more than 33 thousand sites. Up to a billion users visit them every month. Moreover, the number of such resources is growing by 31% every month.
