What is Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the easiest mobile game to describe as Pokemon GO in the world of Harry Potter. It was developed by the same studio responsible for Pokemon GO, and many of the mechanics from the 2016 project have been ported to Wizards Unite with little or no change.

The plot of the game is straightforward. An event called Calamity occurred in the world of magic. Magical artifacts, creatures, people and even memories suddenly began to appear in the Muggle world. This is a dangerous situation: firstly, Muggles cannot know about the existence of wizards, and secondly, the disappearance of artifacts and people makes the magical world unstable.

To cope with the Misfortune, the wizards have created a task force that is distributed throughout the world. The player is part of this group. He must explore settlements, find magic objects and return them back.

What can be found on the map

The core of the gameplay is finding different objects on a map that Wizards Unite downloads from Google Maps. To move around the game world, you need to physically walk down the street. From time to time, finds (foundable), boxes (portmanteau), ingredients for potions, inns (inn), fortress (fortress) and greenhouse (greenhouse) will appear on the map.

Findings

From time to time, small medallions of different colors will appear next to your character. These are finds. By clicking on this, a mini-game is launched: you need to create a spell by drawing the shown figure on the screen. The faster and more accurately you do this, the more chances that the confoundable that holds this find will be disarmed. But be careful: spells waste energy. The only way to replenish it is to look into the inn.

If the attempt is unsuccessful, the find may disappear. If successful, the game issues a fragment of the sticker with the corresponding object, which is added to the registry. Some stickers consist of just one piece, some of four, eight or more. Typically, if an item or character is known and loved by the community (like Professor Snape or Sirius Black), then its sticker requires more fragments.

Sometimes the finds are monsters (snakes, werewolves, spiders, and so on). During the battle with them, you need to attack and defend yourself by drawing spells. If the enemy manages to strike, then your health decreases. You can replenish it with a potion.

Ingredients

Herbs, organs of magical animals and other similar items that you can find on the playing field are needed to create potions. Potions perform many different functions: they replenish health during combat, allow you to gain more experience for a while, and make it easier to create spells. To brew an elixir, you need to go to the Potions menu, click on the plus and select a potion. After a few hours (or seconds if you're willing to pay) it will be ready.

Also on the map comes across water (in the form of watering cans) and seeds. They are needed to grow ingredients in greenhouses.

Fortresses

Fortresses are large elongated towers on the map, consisting of 20 floors. Enemies await the player on each floor - the higher, the more powerful. Runestones are spent on entering the fortress and moving up the floors, which can be obtained for freeing finds and filling out the journal.

Battles with opponents are no different from battles with monsters: you need to quickly and accurately draw spells and defend in time. You can go through fortresses with friends - the difficulty increases, but the rewards also increase.

Restaurants

The brown, purple and green houses on the map are inns. They are primarily used to get food. It replenishes the energy that is spent on spells. The player gets the most energy from a turkey with vegetables - it can be found in inns with a green roof. After serving one dish, the inn takes five minutes to prepare a new one.

You can also put a dark detector here. This device attracts finds to the building.

Greenhouses

In greenhouses - blue glass buildings - you can plant seeds to grow rare ingredients for potions. To do this, you need to choose a free pot and the plant that you want to plant in it. When the ingredient is ready, it will appear on the map next to the greenhouse, but only for half an hour.

If desired, the herbivicus spell can be cast on your own or someone else's sprout, which will increase the amount of ingredients that occurs after cultivation. To do this, select the desired pot and press Contribute.

Caskets

Among the random objects on the map, there are also boxes with portals - objects that teleport magicians to certain places (like a shoe in the "Goblet of Fire"). The boxes are opened with keys. By default, you will have one gold key (it can be used an infinite number of times) and several silver keys (they are disposable).

But just inserting the key into the box is not enough: you also have to walk down the street. Caskets may require a walk of two, five or ten kilometers. The greater the distance, the greater the chances of getting a rare portal.

After the box opens, you can create a portal. This is a small adventure in a virtual location in which you need to look around and find glowing points. After graduation, you will receive a lot of experience and useful resources.

How and why to level up

The level rises when you gain enough experience points. Experience is awarded for almost any successful action in the game: obtaining finds, passing tests in fortresses, pasting stickers, and so on. Upon reaching the fourth level, access to potions is unlocked. Upon reaching the sixth, you can choose a profession.

A good way to get more experience is to practice spell drawing. Great spells give two and a half times more points than good spells. You can also use a potion of intelligence (brain elixir), which gives a bonus to experience, and perform difficult tasks such as passing portals and fortresses.

How and why to pump the profession

There are three professions in the game: an obscurantist, a magozoologist and a professor. Representatives of the first are strong in attack and defense against dark forces, the second - they are excellent at handling animals and heal friends, and the third - they work better than others with curiosities, they know how to cast useful spells on comrades-in-arms and harmful ones on enemies.

If you are playing alone, the professor is your best bet. His skill set allows him to effectively fight even against the dark forces to which this class is vulnerable.

The higher the level of the profession, the more spells you open. It is increased with the help of scrolls and spellbooks. The former are awarded for almost any action in the game, while the latter are awarded only for passing tests in fortresses.
