Friendliness, organization, anxiety - all these qualities can be found in the profile picture.
A group of researchers from the United States and Iran analyzed thousands of photos of Twitter users and found out what basic personality traits they can tell. Here are the conclusions the scientists came to.
Good faith
Conscientious people prefer to upload more natural photos, without heavy processing. Such users are more likely to put a color picture in profile than a black and white picture.
In general, they try to look older in the photo and can express not only intense joy in it, but also more restrained emotions.
Openness to experience
Users with such qualities are distinguished by the most unusual and artistic pictures: they are sharper, more contrasting, saturated or, conversely, blurry.
In the photo, people who are open to experience may not be too emotional. At the same time, they like to emphasize their face: it is often taken in close-ups.
Extroversion
Such users publish bright color photos in which other people are also present. Of course, extroverts literally shine in the frame.
Neuroticism
Those who have it tend to post compositionally simple photographs in muted or black and white colors. Most often, in the photo, their face does not express any special emotions, looks sad or even hidden.
Benevolence
Photos of friendly people may not be of the best quality: blurry, out-of-focus. But they will certainly turn out to be bright and lively, and the person on them will rejoice and smile.
conclusions
Summarizing, the authors of the study note that neurotics and people who are open to experience emit less positive emotions in the photo. The difference between them is in the quality of pictures: the former pay less attention to it, the latter more.
Conscientious, friendly and extroverted users broadcast more optimism. But the former publish rather presentable photos, while the other two types often post more vivid photos, though not necessarily of good quality.
Now it remains only to look at your page and understand how right the scientists turned out to be.
