Here are four inexpensive new products that you should take a closer look at.
More recently, Realme has introduced a whole series of accessories to the Russian market. These include the Smart Scale, the Smart Cam 360º Wi-Fi camera and two models of electric toothbrushes: the M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush and the N1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush.
All devices are distinguished by very attractive prices that can interest even those who are skeptical of young brands. To answer the question of whether such availability is worth trusting, we took a closer look at the entire set of new products.
1. Wi-Fi ‑ camera Realme Smart Cam 360º
This Wi-Fi camera can act as a security system or baby monitor. It allows you to remotely monitor your home and office, as well as receive notifications on your smartphone when any movement or sound is detected. The device simply connects to a Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz) via the Realme Link app. The camera is also controlled through it.
In the application, you can set the schedule for the device, enable or disable the status indicator (blue diode on the case), adjust the picture and sound, update the firmware, or provide access to the broadcast to another user using a mobile phone number or email address.
All this works flawlessly, but the translation of some points in the application clearly suffers, as well as the description of the products themselves on the manufacturer's website. This does not cause any difficulties - the functions are easy to remember, although the overall impression spoils a little.
The camera's angle of view is 105º, but, as the name implies, there is also a full-fledged all-round view. The body of the device rotates to the right and left, and the round "eye" - up and down, which allows you to keep under control a fairly large area. The Realme Link app has a dedicated joystick to rotate the camera. You can also rotate it by swiping over the image display area. By double tap, 2x zoom is available.
Also Realme Smart Cam 360º is able to automatically track moving objects. True, this function works only in the complete absence of visible obstacles and a low speed of movement. If you quickly walk past the camera, the tracking system may not work, although a motion alert will still come - no problem with that.
Pet owners will benefit from two-way voice communication. With its help, for example, you can remotely give a command to a dog that is already eating your boot. The main thing is to place the camera so that the dog cannot reach it. Alternatively, mount the device to the ceiling. For this, the kit contains everything you need, even a sticker for marking holes for self-tapping screws.
Another nice bonus in the box is funny stickers on the camera body, playing with a round "eye". There is a butterfly, a gold chain with the company's logo, and even an astronaut's spacesuit.
Realme Smart Cam 360º video records in 1,080p (H.265) resolution. To save clips you need a memory card, it is not included in the kit. It is inserted into the slot under the lens peephole, for this you just need to point the camera up. Without a map, you can only receive a picture in real time when connected from a smartphone. The connection is quite fast and stable - no complaints here.
You can only find fault with the quality of photos when motion is detected. They are often blurred and do not allow you to immediately determine what exactly the device reacted to: a person, a cat running by, or who decided to work with a robot vacuum cleaner.
However, the manufacturer offers a solution to this problem. In the Realme Link app, you can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection. At a low level, the camera will only fire on a massive object like a past person and ignore the pet. This is a very useful feature that allows the device not to alarm you with notifications after each jump of your cat, but to inform you when someone from the family returns home.
2. Realme Smart Scale
The Realme Smart Scale is an analogue of the more famous Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2. They also diagnose the body using bioimpedance analysis (measurement of electrical resistance). It is enough to stand on the scales barefoot, and a set of metrics will be displayed in the Realme Link application on the paired smartphone. Connection - via Bluetooth 5.0.
If necessary, the application can store the data of several family members at once by creating additional user profiles. There is also a detailed description of all metrics with exercise recommendations.
In total, the scale measures 16 parameters, including the proportion of adipose and muscle tissues, basal metabolism, body fluid content, body mass index, visceral fat level, bone mass and even heart rate.
The pulse is also displayed directly on the LED-display immediately after the weight. However, if you step on the scale in socks or slippers, you will only see your weight. There are questions about the measurement of the pulse itself: the sensor is sometimes very wrong, and you have to re-measure it, as in the photo below. What this is connected with is not clear.
As for the accuracy of bioimpedance analysis, it is rather difficult to verify it. In comparison with the Xiaomi weights, the discrepancy in the values is about 5%, that is, their algorithms are similar.
The lower part of the scales is made of plastic, the upper part is additionally protected by 6 mm thick tempered glass. The maximum supported weight is 150 kg. Realme Smart Scale is powered by four little batteries that come with the kit. They should be enough for a year of using the device.
3. Toothbrush Realme M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush
Realme has two electric brushes, and the M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush is the best of them. She received a sound vibration motor with a vibration frequency of up to 34,000 micromotions per minute. In terms of this indicator, the brush is not inferior to popular counterparts like Philips Sonicare CleanCare + and CS Medica models.
At the same time, the M1 has two different attachments in the kit: a standard one and a softer one for sensitive gums. That is, two people can use one brush - this is an absolute plus. Unfortunately, there is no attachment holder in the kit, but there are caps for bristles. The bristles here are from DuPont, fading will tell you when it's time to replace.
With any M1, the Sonic Electric Toothbrush can be used in four modes: Gentle, Normal, Whitening and Polishing. The vibration frequency and amplitude depend on the mode. They are switched using a single button on the handle. A single press starts the brush in the last active mode, and a second press allows you to select the next one (the one used will be highlighted on the body). The device is turned off with the same button, but there is also an auto shutdown after a three-minute cleaning cycle.
Feels like the brush does an excellent job. The main thing is to properly brush your teeth and not forget about hard-to-reach places.
The brush body is thick enough, but at least not slippery. It is completely protected from moisture (IPX7), so it, like the attachments, can be washed out under running water.
Charging uses a small docking station with a depression into which the device is inserted. The adapter itself is not included, but any one with a USB connector will do.
You only need to charge the M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush every two to three months. This is a significant advantage over Oral-B brushes, which use voracious reciprocating heads. The latter usually require recharging every 10-15 days, so keep their docking station visible in the bathroom at all times. With the Realme brush, the charger can be hidden in a locker and remembered only a few times a year.
4. Toothbrush Realme N1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush
This brush is lighter, more compact and significantly less expensive. Inside it has a sound vibration motor with a vibration frequency of up to 20,000 micromotions per minute. The body of the Realme N1 is made of soft-touch matte plastic. Like the older model, this brush is waterproof (IPX7).
There is only one attachment in the kit. It has the same soft DuPont indicator bristles that fade as the brush is used. But the connecting mechanism is different from that used in the M1 model. For this reason, the attachments for these brushes are not compatible.
There are three cleaning modes to choose from: soft for sensitive gums, standard for everyday use and another for polishing. They also switch with the push of a single button.
There is also a charge level indicator under the mode indicators. The brush is powered via the USB-C port at the bottom. A USB ‑ A type cable is supplied. The manufacturer promises up to 130 days of battery life on a single charge, and if this is really the case, then very cool.
Outcomes
- Realme Smart Cam 360º: a functional camera with a good package, which is quite suitable for both a children's room and an office.
- Realme Smart Scale: The scales seem to be a reliable and durable device, but they are not at all happy with errors in heart rate measurements.
- Realme M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush: impressions of this brush are purely positive, and given the price and two attachments in the kit, it is quite possible to recommend it for purchase.
- Realme N1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush: Suitable for those who are looking for the most budget-friendly sonic type electric brush for everyday use or, for example, for business trips and travel.
