13 best films filmed in Russia over the past decade

It is customary to scold Russian cinema (not without reason). But we found great pictures from the last 10 years. Strong, deep, thought-provoking. All of them have a rating of at least 7, and some have received not only popular love, but also the recognition of film experts.

1. Cook

  • Drama, 2007.
  • Director: Yaroslav Chevazhevsky.
  • Duration: 100 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 2.

After hundreds of commercials, Yaroslav Chevazhevsky made a movie about love. And it succeeded.

Colorful characters and a story that awakens the notes of mercy in the soul. The brilliant Dina Korzun, who played the social worker Lena, and the amazing Anastasia Dobrynina, who played the role of Cook, grab the viewer's attention from the first shots. The film, after watching which I want every Cook in the world to meet her aunt Lena.

2. Bury me behind the skirting board

  • Drama, 2008.
  • Director: Sergei Snezhkin.
  • Duration: 110 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 1.

The film is based on the story of the same name by Pavel Sanaev. According to the plot, eight-year-old Sasha Savelyev found himself in the grip of his grandmother's love. She took him away from his mother, because she hates her daughter, considers her to be dissolute.

The story would have been an ordinary everyday thing if Sergei Snezhkin had not been able to retell it, as in a book, on behalf of a child. The picture turned out to be tough, but very deep. Svetlana Kryuchkova (grandmother) received "Nika" for Best Actress.

3. Hipsters

  • Musical, drama, comedy, 2008.
  • Director: Valery Todorovsky.
  • Duration: 136 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 2.

A film about the youth subculture popular in the 1950s and about an ordinary Soviet guy who found friends among "ideological enemies".

Vivid visuals and beautiful music at the intersection of jazz, rock and rock'n'roll give the picture a lightness. But if we remove the dance and song tinsel, then complex ideological and ideological contradictions will open, many of which are still relevant today.

4. Inadequate people

  • Melodrama, comedy, 2010.
  • Director: Roman Karimov.
  • Duration: 102 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 6.

The film is not from the category of action-packed. Tikhonya Vitaly moves to Moscow in search of a better life and himself. Only what is not an acquaintance is inadequate: an eccentric neighbor is trying to make him cool, a lustful boss - to drag him into bed. Even the psychologist, whom Vitaly turns to for help, has his own oddities.

But the dynamics of such films lies in the relationships and metamorphoses of the inner world of the heroes. The picture will make you smile and ask yourself a couple of questions.

5. What men talk about

  • Comedy, 2010.
  • Director: Dmitry Dyachenko.
  • Duration: 93 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 6.

Another film adaptation of their play by Quartet I (the first two - Election Day and Radio Day - also became hits).

Four friends go to a concert of their favorite band and discuss the most burning topics. What do men talk about? That's right, about women.

Witty humor, great music and pictures create a great atmosphere when watching.

6. Chapito show

  • Comedy, 2011.
  • Director: Sergei Loban.
  • Duration: 107 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 7.

The film consists of four short stories, each with its own theme: love, friendship, respect and cooperation. There were two parts: "Chapiteau show: love and friendship" and "Chapiteau show: respect and cooperation".

The heroes of the novels constantly intersect, but the stories develop in parallel to each other. It is incredibly interesting to follow the kaleidoscope of these events: the directorial work is at the highest level. And the philosophical ending makes you think about a lot.

7. Legend number 17

  • Sports, drama, biography, 2012.
  • Director: Nikolai Lebedev.
  • Duration: 134 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 7.

An excellent film adaptation of the biography of the famous Soviet hockey player Valery Kharlamov. The film demonstrates willpower, perseverance and incomparable relationship between an athlete and a coach.

The picture was equally warmly received both by representatives of the older generation, who watched the hockey battles of Russia and Canada with their own eyes, and by young people, for whom Danila Kozlovsky finally became a sex symbol.

8. The geographer drank the globe

  • Drama, 2013.
  • Director: Alexander Veledinsky.
  • Duration: 125 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 4.

The main character of the film, Viktor Sluzhkin, is a biologist by education, but money is sorely lacking, and he goes to work at school. Sluzhkin accepts the challenge of teenagers and teaches them something more than the school curriculum suggests.

The film turned out to be sincere and very philosophical. He took the main prize of "Kinotavr" and three nominations for the "Golden Eagle". And the critics, who saw in the picture harassment of a minor, would not hurt to read the novel of the same name by Alexei Ivanov, it was he who formed the basis of the plot.

9. Fool

  • Drama, 2014.
  • Director: Yuri Bykov.
  • Duration: 116 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 0.

A film about the life we deserve. After watching, there is a heavy feeling of hopelessness. You involuntarily try on scenes from the film: "Would I have sounded the alarm?", "Would I have left in the place of his wife?" It is difficult to give an honest answer. One thing is clear: such fools as Dmitry Nikitin cannot survive in Russia, and without them nothing can be changed.

10. Correction class

  • Drama, 2014.
  • Director: Ivan Tverdovsky.
  • Duration: 85 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 1.

A social drama about teenagers based on the story of the same name by Ekaterina Murashova. A girl in a wheelchair, after many years of homeschooling, comes to school, where she first encounters love and cruelty.

The picture raises many important problems: the ugliness of the education system, the lack of a barrier-free environment. But most importantly, it shows adolescents - categorical and defenseless, influenced by the crowd and loudly declaring themselves.

11. White nights of the postman Alexei Tryapitsyn

  • Drama, comedy, 2014.
  • Director: Andrey Konchalovsky.
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

Atmospheric and incredibly creative cinema. Andrei Konchalovsky showed with documentary precision the mysterious and sad beauty of the Russian hinterland.

The peculiarity of the film is that the main role was played not by a professional actor, but by an ordinary postman Alexei Tryapitsyn. The same as hundreds of others in different parts of the vast country.

The film received the main director's prize - "Silver Lion" at the Venice Film Festival.

12. Dislike

  • Drama, 2017.
  • Director: Andrey Zvyagintsev.
  • Duration: 127 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 9.

"Dislike" - premiere by Andrey Zvyagintsev. The director painted a world paralyzed by selfishness and indifference. The spouses get divorced and decide what to do with their son. In the new life of mom and dad, the boy has no place. The child just disappears.

The film stops the usual running of life, hurts in the gut and makes you think. The picture caused a violent reaction - from delight to disdain. And film critics compare "Dislike" with another film cut of our life called "Arrhythmia".

13. Arrhythmia

  • Drama, 2017.
  • Director: Boris Khlebnikov.
  • Duration: 116 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 6.

The plot is tied to medical topics. He works in the ambulance: he sleeps a little and thinks, drinks and does a lot. There is no time to think, especially about yourself and about relationships. She works in the admissions department. Also all the time at work, but as a woman she wants home warmth and a strong rear. They do not understand each other, although they still love.

The audience accepted Arrhythmia very well. It doesn't matter where we live and who we work - the feelings are too familiar.

The film, like "Dislike", makes you say "stop" and think about filling your life, but, unlike Zvyagintsev's picture, it does not fall on your soul as a heavy stone. We recommend that you watch a full analysis of these two films, which was conducted by film critics Lyubov Arkus and Anton Dolin.
