Pay attention to these factors and reconsider your attitude towards them to make life easier and more efficient.
1. Multitasking
The modern pace of life suggests that you have to switch between different tasks a million times a day, and it's not just about important tasks. Taking a break from work to update your social media feed is also multitasking.
But researchers agree that the concept of "multitasking" is essentially the closest thing to "distraction." To maneuver between cases and to cope with them as well as with consistent execution, no one succeeds, this is a myth. Anyone who rushes from task to task is faced with a decrease in productivity, because switching is also work and it "eats" resources.
So it's best to get down to business consistently.
2. Notifications
For example, you make a drawing, fill out tables, or monitor the absence of defects in parts on the conveyor. And your phone beeps at this time, notifying you of new likes on Instagram, a message in Facebook or an unidentified SMS.
Let you not pick up the gadget and be sure that you have received promotional mailings. Notifications still shift attention to themselves. And this, as with multitasking, tires you and slows down your productivity.
Most notifications do not need an instant response. For example, updating the Instagram likes counter won't give you anything right now - which means you can look at them with a light heart later, when you scroll through the feed. Leave notifications enabled only for channels that require urgent responses: work chats, delivery services, and the like.
3. Lack of a list of tasks
Surely every day you are forced to keep in mind dozens of cases: workers and personal, large and small. To make sure that everything is going according to plan, you have to periodically say them in your head - have you forgotten what. And in the meantime, worry and suffer from phantom deadlines: suddenly you have an urgent business, but you have not started it.
Remembering everything is a background task. But it takes up your "RAM" and takes up resources. Therefore, keeping a list of tasks with due dates and checking them periodically is a good habit. This saves you from having to keep everything in your head.
4. Thirst
Researchers are still figuring out exactly how much water a person needs, but no one doubts that it needs to be drunk.
The simplest indicator that it is time for the body to replenish its fluid reserves is thirst. But it’s very easy to ignore. So you thought that you need to go to fetch water. And they came to their senses two hours later, when there was a desert in the mouth, the head became heavier, and the strength had disappeared somewhere.
Therefore, keep a container of water next to you so that you can drink as soon as you want.
5. Work without rest
Remember, in the first grade, the teacher periodically raised everyone for short exercises? "We wrote, we wrote, our fingers are tired …" - everyone said in unison, flexing their palms. Years have passed, you have not become younger and even more in need of periodic rest. Otherwise, the body gets tired of monotonous postures, eyes - from focusing on one object. All this is unlikely to contribute to well-being.
Therefore, regularly give yourself a break. You can set a reminder on your phone or use the special Pomodoro timer.
6. Disorder
Perhaps your mom said something like "Order on the table - order in the head." And you answered that it is more convenient for you when a stack of textbooks tilted so that it lured tourists from Pisa, and there is so much waste paper lying under the table that its processing will help restore a small forest belt.
So now it's official: Mom was right. Researchers believe that clutter hurts us very much. On the one hand, we spend time and nerves trying to find the things we need in the mess. On the other hand, cluttered space makes us anxious and increases stress.
Sounds like a good reason to finally make out the rubble on your desktop.
7. Uncomfortable clothes
You put on tight shoes, because you have to wear them somewhere, trousers that are a little too small, but will do, and a shirt that you hate, but your mother gave, do not throw it away. And wherever you go in all this, suffering is definitely in store for you. No matter what you do or how exciting it is, the discomfort will not go away. Therefore, you will quickly be exhausted and will dream of only one thing: to return home and take off these things.
Life is too short to dress uncomfortably. And she is already full of pain to suffer more because of calluses on the heel or the hated shirt.
8. Lies
A small study showed that the less people cheat, the better they feel. Portions of lies, even small ones like exaggeration of one's merits or a fictitious reason for being late, can worsen physical and mental well-being and lead to melancholy. So honesty is the key to a good mood.
