An unusual chair for complete immersion in the virtual world.
VR headsets with a high degree of realism are immersed in virtual reality, but there are still problems with the simulation of movements within the game world. The creators of Yaw VR are trying to solve them with the help of a chair-bowl, the position in space of which is synchronized with the movements of a person in virtual reality.
The simulator with a futuristic design in the form of two halves of a sphere takes up little space in the room and is easy to fold. The shells are stacked one on top of the other, while the padded seat and leg bracket are hidden inside. The whole structure weighs less than 15 kg and is completely silent in operation.
The upper bowl of the Yaw VR is located on three rotating supports, due to which the player's position in space changes. The dome freely rotates 360 degrees horizontally and can tilt 24 degrees to either side. The control is carried out using a separate unit running on the open source software SimTools.
The simulator currently works with 80 games and applications. However, the developers promise to expand this list in the future, as well as support for PlayStation VR, Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR.
You can order Yaw VR on Kickstarter for $ 990. Delivery will begin in August.
