Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

The popular horror series is back to basics. As in the first "Resident Evil", you again have to explore a huge mansion, pick up keys to the doors, look for secrets and look into blood-curdling cellars. All this - with the masterful use of modern technology, insane boss fights and a first-person view, which further intensifies the atmosphere.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Wii U.

One of the top contenders for Game of the Year is only available to Nintendo consoles. A new part of the adventures of Link, who has awakened from a 100-year dream and remembers absolutely nothing, are memories of childhood adventures, multiplied by fantasies of endless fields, mysterious caves and dangerous monsters.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a sandbox RPG where, unlike many other representatives of the genre, there are always interesting things to do.

Injustice 2

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

One of the few fighting games that still has something to surprise. Injustice 2 is still Mortal Kombat wrapped in DC comics, but this time much more elaborate and effective.

The second part differs from the first by the presence of an advanced character customization system, which allows you to create a unique fighter in terms of both appearance and abilities. And the superheroes and supervillains themselves, for whom you can play, has increased by an order of magnitude.

Observer

Platforms: Windows, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

Cyberpunk horror set in 2084. You have to play as a detective who penetrates the minds of people, controls their fears and thus obtains the necessary information.

The main character receives a mysterious message from his son and goes to look for him in almost the poorest district of Krakow. This is where things start to go wrong. The appearance and voice of the protagonist was presented not by anyone, but by Rutger Hauer himself, known for his role as the android Roy Batty from Blade Runner.

SteamWorld Dig 2

Platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch.

A colorful 2D platformer in which you play as Dorothy, a steam robot with a pickaxe looking for the disappeared Rusty from the first part. With the help of her tool, the heroine digs passages underground, extracts resources and fights with hostile creatures.

The game is made in the genre of metroidvania: there is a large map with many passages and short paths that you have to gradually discover with the help of special tools, weapons and abilities.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Platform: Windows.

A classic RPG with memorable characters, deep dialogues, a perfectly tuned combat system and a ton of features that every fan of the genre will appreciate. In addition to an interesting and truly living world and attention to detail, the project has an offline and online cooperative mode and an arena for PvP battles. Because of Divinity: Original Sin 2, you can easily fall out of life for more than one or even two dozen hours.

Night in the woods

Platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS, PlayStation 4.

A story-driven platformer in which you play as May, a loser cat who drops out of college and returns to live with her parents in her native Possum Springs. In the absence of more important things to do, the heroine explores the vast city, communicates with its inhabitants and plays bass in a local group.

Night in the Woods can be compared to Twin Peaks or Gravity Falls: the game has a mystical atmosphere and each local has its own skeletons in the closet.

Prey

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

A first-person shooter where you are the key subject of an important experiment for humanity, which is being carried out in 2032 aboard the Talos-1 space station. But things are not going as planned. As a result, the station is populated by aliens capable of taking the form of any objects. You have to wade through the premises with caution, fighting far from the stupidest enemies and collecting pieces of information about Talos-1 and your past.

Cuphead

Platforms: Windows, Xbox One.

A game that looks exactly like the cartoons of the 30s of the last century. Cuphead tells the story of the little men-cups who lost their souls to the devil and now, in order to get them back, they must bypass all the debtors of the lord of hell.

Do not be fooled by the fact that you have to fight with various kinds of frogs, carrots and other seemingly pretty creatures. The bosses, of which the platformer mostly consists of battles, are able to challenge even the hardest fan of the Souls series.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

The game continues to tell the story of the world, begun in Wolfenstein: The New Order, in which the Nazis enslaved America. You are a member of the resistance, William Blaskowitz, almost the last hope for the restoration of justice, in which almost no one believes.

The New Colossus is an improved first part: shooting is even better, there are more locations, and the cutscenes between missions are more interesting. And hold on tightly to the chair when you find out what this new colossus is.
