We will tell you what is the main advantage of iOS over Android for developers and why many exclusives will never be released on Android. We also offer a selection of the best apps available only for iOS.
Developers prefer iOS
iOS is more interesting to developers than Android. This is not news, many cool apps first go to iOS and only a few months later end up on Google Play. And sometimes they remain exclusive to iOS. Why it happens? It's very simple: it's about the users' ability to pay. Android is still deeply rooted in piracy, and developers are the first to suffer. Android users simply don't feel like paying for apps and games. Why, if they can be downloaded and installed from any source. Google does not prevent this in any way, although it could prohibit access to software bypassing Google Play.
As a result, it is unprofitable for developers to create serious projects, since if the application costs more than a dollar, it will simply be ignored. Some studios get out of this situation by creating shareware applications: banners and in-house purchases are used. Users are to blame for the fact that for a normal game now you need to stock up on crystals, coins and other nonsense, which is already pretty boring. But, until Google gives a fight to piracy, normal applications should not be expected.
6 best iOS exclusives
I've handpicked six great iOS apps that are unlikely to ever make it to Google Play. Some of them are free, a couple of them have a terrifying price tag, but trust me, they are worth it.
1. Hyperlapse
The best time-lapse video app from the creators of Instagram. Nothing more: just press one button to take pictures. You can play with the finished video, adjust the speed, and then save or immediately send to Facebook and Instagram. The standard "Camera" application in the iPhone can also shoot using the hyperlapse technique, but without adjusting the speed and digital stabilization.
The app is free and only available to iPhone owners. For some reason, in two years it never made it to Google Play.
2. Astropad
This app is a must-have for iPad Pro owners. Installing it on Mac and iPad, we get a full-fledged graphics tablet. After synchronization, the macOS interface opens on the iPad screen, which means you can work in the familiar Photoshop and Illustrator. In one of the latest updates, support for the Apple Pencil appeared, the application recognizes the angle of inclination and the degree of pressure of the pen. Astropad works perfectly, without delays and freezes, at 60 fps. Moreover, the tablet can be connected both via the Lightning cable and via Wi-Fi.
I will certainly make a full review of this application, but in the meantime, everyone can purchase it for 2,290 rubles. Expensive? Certainly, but such features are worth paying for. Astropad is naturally not available for Android.
3. Photoshop Fix
Application not found
It is a powerful retouching tool available to iPhone and iPad owners. Thanks to a variety of tools like plastic, anti-aliasing and adjustments, you can seriously edit your photo. Moreover, Photoshop Fix allows you to work with photos in maximum resolution, not limited to 2,000 × 2,000 pixels. Again, the image can be sent for revision to a full-fledged Photoshop CC, while the application will save all edits in layers.
Photoshop Fix is free, and why it's still not available on Android is unclear.
4. Duet Display
Application not found
Another app that iPad owners should definitely have. Fun fact, by the way: Astropad and Duet Display were developed by former Apple employees. Duet Display requires a Mac and iPad app. The developers have abandoned wireless syncing to avoid lags, so a Lightning cable is needed. This will also allow the tablet to be charged while in use. After synchronizing the devices, the system will perceive the iPad as a full-fledged external display: you can drag windows onto it, open programs in full screen. A great use for the huge iPad Pro.
Duet Display works not only with Mac, but also with Windows computers. But he is not on friendly terms with Android - perhaps because the application costs 1,190 rubles.
5. Ulysses
I won't be lying if I say this is the best text editor for journalists, writers and bloggers. Minimalistic interface, convenient work with the Markdown library and markup. And, of course, iCloud support, thanks to which you can sketch text on the road on the iPad, and in the office draw on the Mac. An irreplaceable tool for a journalist, but it costs a lot - 1,890 rubles.
6. Procreate
This is the best drawing tool available for iPad. Not a full-fledged Illustrator, of course, but already something. Simple interface, many tools, Apple Pencil support. In this case, you can create up to 20 layers and export directly to Creative Cloud. That is, having made a sketch on the iPad, you can send it for revision in Illustrator and drop it back onto the tablet to detail the drawing on it. Procreate costs 459 rubles, which is not cheap, of course, but if you bought an iPad not only for watching TV shows, then this is a great purchase.
iOS lets you create
Of course, there are very few iOS exclusives in the collection. I have not written about games and other applications, of which there are a lot. If you noticed, the article focuses on applications in which you can create content, be it photos or graphics. Yes, apps are not cheap, but they can significantly expand the capabilities of iOS devices, not limited to watching movies on the couch.
As for Android, so far there is no such level of applications there and is not expected. Google Play is full of all kinds of trash, teeming with ads and in-house purchases. And, again, until Google defeats piracy, the application layer will not budge.
