Laverna is a new service that could be an alternative to Evernote, Google Keep or OneNote.
The Laverna project is open source, so anyone can use it for free. It includes an online service for creating and storing notes, as well as desktop programs for Windows, macOS and Linux. A mobile client for Android is being developed.
The online client has a simple and intuitive interface. The left column contains a list of notes, the right displays the content of the currently selected item. To access the list of notebooks and settings, click on the menu button in the upper left corner.
The window for creating a new record is also divided into two parts. In one, you need to enter text and code, and in the other, a note is displayed in a finished form. There are functions for simple formatting, inserting images, links, simple and numbered links.
Notes are stored on the user's computer in the browser cache. However, you can configure data storage in the Dropbox cloud. This is also useful for synchronizing with Laverna desktop clients. However, encryption can be used to ensure the confidentiality of your recordings.
If you do not want to store your secret notes on someone else's server, you can organize Laverna work on your own. Everything you need for this is published on the developer's GitHub page.
