Cartoon or very realistic birds that will decorate both a simple postcard and a whole winter landscape.
How to draw a cartoon bullfinch with a felt-tip pen
What is needed
- Paper;
- felt-tip pen.
How to draw
Start with an oval right in the middle of the sheet. Let it tilt slightly to the left.
Add a second, smaller oval above, it should be horizontal and intersect with the first.
It was the body and head of the bird, now we draw a wing: to the right of the first oval, start drawing another one, at the same slope, but narrower, and, bringing it to the middle of the bird's body, finish with a wavy line. From it downward draw long feathers, similar to sticks with rounded ends. Connect the head with the wing with a smooth line.
Add a beak - it looks like two triangles folded together.
Draw a line between the top and bottom of the beak. Draw an oval cheek for the bullfinch.
Draw a round eye with a pupil inside it, leaving a white highlight in the center. Paint over the head of the bullfinch, leaving white for the cheek, eye and beak, and proceed to the bottom of the picture.
Draw a twig right under the body with horizontal lines - it tapers from right to left. On the branch, with four rounded strokes, depict the legs of the bird, the right one is smaller than the left one, because it is located further away. Draw a tail between the left leg and the wing: it consists of long, parallel lines and ends in a W-shaped outline.
Draw a line down from the narrow end of the twig. From it, make several strokes to the sides and at the end of each place a round rowan berry with a dot at the bottom.

How to draw
Draw two arcs at the top of the sheet, one below the other, extending downward with the right ends. From the left edge of the upper arch, draw a rounded stroke to the left - this is the upper part of the beak. Draw the lower part under it, it is shorter and much narrower. Extend the outer outline of the beak until it intersects with the lower arch of the head. Draw a round eye.
Continue the right outline of the upper arc downward, drawing the back of the bird. From the left (towards you) part of the head down, draw a breast in a wave. Near the back with several oblique strokes, outline the outlines of the wing.
Draw a tail under the wing - here it is, in fact, 1–2 long feathers. Finish the lower contour of the body and draw the legs of the bird: two parallel legs, at the end of each, three claws look forward, one - back.
With short strokes directed from the beak to the back, lightly paint over the head with black pencil. Leave a white rim around the eye, and inside it make a black pupil with a white highlight. Add some color to the beak, leaving the tip white.
Go over the feathers of the head again with a black pencil, making the color darker. From the eye up, throw a strip of less dense shading: this will give the head volume.
Cover the back to the middle of the wing with gray irregular strokes. Paint over the front of the bullfinch red, making short pencil strokes in the shape of the breast. The color should be paler around the wings and around the neck.
In short strokes, go over the breast with a pink pencil. Add this color to the neck and the base of the wings. Paint over the legs with pink.
Draw two black stripes on the wings, and one gray stripes between them. Paint the tail with gray in the direction of the feather growth.

How to draw a cartoon bullfinch with colored pencils
What is needed
- Paper;
- black gel pen;
- colour pencils.
How to draw
Draw a rounded top line for the head, on the left, add a beak of two triangles, one above the other.
From the beak downward, direct the arcuate contour of the breast. Draw a line from it to the back edge of the head, as in the picture, and draw a round eye with a filled pupil.
Continue the back line of the head downward, drawing the back. Below it, add a wing that looks like a segment of an elongated ellipse.
Draw feathers with rounded ends on the part of the wing closer to the back of the bird. Add three toes under the body.
Draw the horizontal outlines of an irregular twig through the legs. Draw diverging tail lines under the bird's wing - they are located behind the twig.
Draw the bottom border of the tail and add an arc on the wing at the shoulder, as well as a small horizontal element in the middle.
Paint the shoulder of the bird with blue and the breast with red.
Cover the head, tail and wing with black except for the horizontal decorative element.
Color the twig brown.

How to draw a cartoon bullfinch with gouache
What is needed
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser;
- gouache;
- brush;
- a glass of water.
How to draw
Draw a circle just above the center of the sheet.
Above and to the right, draw a second, smaller circle, and connect them with smooth lines at the top and bottom.
From the small circle, draw a slightly rounded line to the left and down through the middle of the large circle, outlining the wing. Erase the extra contours.
Extend the top border of the shape until it intersects with the wing line. From the bottom circle, draw a forward slash to the left, indicating the tail.
Draw two sections obliquely from the wing, depicting a triangular tail.
Make the breast on the right more rounded. Erase the extra contours.
Draw a round eye, a beak of two halves and a line on the bird's cheek - later on it will be the border of the coloring.
Add guidelines for the wing feathers, slightly changing its bottom outline. Draw wavy lines around them, as well as on the bullfinch's belly and on its neck. Erase the excess.
Draw a zigzag for the feathers under the tail of the bird, clearly draw the tail. Under the belly, make paws with three claws, and under them and around the bullfinch - the approximate contours of the branch on which it sits.
Cover the top of the breast with red gouache.
Paint over the belly of the bird with whitewash, slightly mixing the color with the still wet paint on the breast and blurring the border.
Mix black and white and paint over the wing. Cover the tail with a thin layer of black gouache. Rinse the brush and add white spots to the dry border of the breast and belly.
Draw black strokes along the tail and bottom of the wing, depicting feathers. Make some black and white strokes where the torso turns into a tail to make the transition smoother.
Paint the beak gray and the head and legs black. In the eye, draw a large black pupil with a white highlight.
Color the branch brown, and put blue and blue dots around, denoting snow.
Draw drifts on the twig with different shades of blue. How exactly - you can see here:

How to draw a realistic bullfinch in watercolor
What is needed
- Watercolor paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser;
- watercolor;
- brushes;
- glass of water.
How to draw
Draw a pencil outline of the bullfinch using any of the instructions above, or draw it yourself. Dampen the paper with clean water and apply the first, clear coat of red paint to the breast. Leave a light spot under the eye.
Add a transparent purple color to the very bottom of the torso, blend it right in the picture with the breast color for a smooth transition.
Mark the wing feathers and beak in transparent blue. Add a subtle touch of diluted red to the bottom of the beak.
With blue, already somewhat less diluted, paint over the wing and tail unevenly. With the thinnest brush, begin to paint occasional short blue strokes on the dried red breast in the direction of feather growth, paying attention mainly to the bottom and right edges of the drawing to highlight the shadows there. Dry.
Continue to apply feather strokes to the breast with rich red paint, making the bullfinch more fluffy.
Paint over the head with transparent black.
Make a light gray rim in the eye, cover the beak with the same color - non-uniformly, outlining stripes from the head to the tip of the beak and leaving white longitudinal highlights.
With light touches of gray paint, create a pockmarked texture on the back of the bird. Add some gray strokes to the wing. Color the paws gray.
Using black paint, mark the feathers of the upper part of the wing, create a relief on the tail and tip of the wing. Paint over the pupil in the eye inside the gray rim, but leave a white dot in the center.
Add black strokes to the head, beak and the area around it. Add black strokes to the legs.
Use a clean, damp brush to blot the paint on the wing, creating a light, textured streak. With the paint that was printed on the brush, add a slight shadow on the back above the wing.
Paint the top of the tree branch a patchy brown and the bottom blue. Blur the border between the top and bottom, add some cross-strokes.
Dampen paper around the bird and paint the background in shades of blue and purple, mixing them right on the paper.
