If you were still in doubt, the era of classic RSS clients is a thing of the past. After Google killed its RSS reader, users have several main platforms for consuming content on various desktop and mobile devices.
Today I propose to talk about one of these applications, which completely replaces the usual client for reading subscriptions on your iPad.
We are talking about an iPad application from the long-familiar service Digg. In 2013, this service was redesigned from an aggregator of user posts and links to a kind of social aggregator of the most popular blogs. Now you don't have to choose RSS feeds yourself: everything is already selected, grouped into thematic selections and presented on one screen.
Now Digg can also be used on Apple devices as a full-fledged mobile client for consuming news, articles and blog posts on a variety of topics. After installing and launching the application, you find yourself on the main screen, where the most popular posts are selected.
Digg's mobile motto is more minimalism. There is an icon on the left, when you click on it, a tab opens with settings, top stories, your feed of subscriptions and recommended posts on various topics.
And when you open a specific post, you can see several icons on the right, pressing each one invokes different functions: convenient reading, deferred reading, adding to favorites or quick posting on social networks. There is also the ability to share content via AirDrop (a useful feature for iOS devices).
There is nothing more superfluous here. Background refresh and notifications are there too. The design of the application is worked out so that everything fits into the concept of iOS7: white background, light colors, a minimum of text and tabs, fast loading and nothing distracts from the content itself. In my opinion, the native Digg application will completely replace any RSS reader for you. Try it and see for yourself.
