Surely many users of iGadgets know the Instagram application, a photo service designed in the form of a social network and existing only in the format of an application for iOS. It doesn't even have a website of its own, which, however, hasn't stopped the program from becoming popular enough to attract one million users.

This is the number of members of this social photo network that have recently been officially registered. And this despite the fact that the network became available for general use a little less than three months ago.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom told The New York Times, "We're just shocked by the growing popularity of our service." In general, according to Systrom, at the moment, users of the application are uploading three photos per second to its database, and in total tens of millions of pictures have already been uploaded to Instagram.

The developers constantly monitor the content of the servers so that they ensure the smooth operation of the service and contain all the added photos. At the moment, Instagram has already enlisted the support of the microblogging network Twitter, where messages about updates in the photo app are published. In addition, the creators of the program are working on fixing errors in its work, have already built in additional filters for pictures and added support for the Posterous platform to Instagram.

Judging by the successful development, the service has a great future, and 1 million active users is just the beginning of a successful path.
