Coronavirus statistics in Russia again set anti-records. The third wave is confidently accelerating and is approaching the peak performance of the second, when more than 28 thousand new infections were recorded daily. Over the past day, there are more than 21 thousand of them.

This wave has hit particularly hard in large cities, where many people have stopped using personal protective equipment and social distancing. In Moscow alone, more than 7 thousand new cases are now recorded every day - about a third of the total number in the country. Such figures forced the mayor's office to close again crowded places, as well as to launch a system of access to cafes and restaurants free of covid using a QR code.

Such measures could have been avoided at higher rates of vaccination. However, people are reluctant to get vaccinated, citing a variety of reasons. Some do not trust Sputnik, others do not believe in the danger of the virus, and still others see in all this only conspiracy theories.
