As you know, laughter is the best medicine. One recent study shows that this is indeed the case. Scientists have come to the conclusion that performing just five simple exercises based on humor can significantly improve a person's condition.
Willibald Ruch, a specialist in positive psychology and research, recently conducted an interesting study with his team. He gathered several hundred completely different people and made them do five exercises based on humor and laughter every day for a week.
The results were startling: after the "funny week", the subjects began to feel happier and could stay that way for up to six months. The effect, albeit not so significant, has been seen even in depressed people.
These miraculous exercises are presented below. Try to devote seven days of your life to them - perhaps they will be the key to happiness.
1. Three funny things
Each evening, write down three funny things that happened to you during the day. Describe not only the situations, but also your feelings during each experience.
2. Schedule funny things
Watch how laughter manifests itself in every day of your life. Track all funny situations and jokes and jot them down at the end of the day. For greater clarity, you can draw up a graph. This will clearly show the dynamics of laughter throughout the week.
3. Make life more fun
Add more humor to your daily routine. It can be anything: jokes at work, cute jokes over the household, watching comedies or humorous shows. Funny comics, pictures on the Internet, meeting a funny friend - anything will do. In general, smile, gentlemen, smile as often as possible.
4. Collect memories
Think about the funniest incident in your life and try to write it down in as much detail as you can. Try to pay attention to these episodes every day.
5. Deal with stress with humor
Think about some of the experiences of the past day. Describe how it was and how you could have resolved (or how you resolved) the situation with humor.
Willibald Ruch also emphasizes that only benevolent humor, which is based on the best intentions, can bring positive changes in life. Wicked irony and sarcasm are unlikely to help bring happiness closer. So try to have fun with all your heart.
