Duolingo is suitable for both complete beginners who speak only Russian and users with basic knowledge of foreign languages. But if you already know English or another foreign well, then the service is unlikely to be useful for learning this language.
Learning mechanics

The training material is broken down into small interactive tasks that take the user from simple to complex. They are funny decorated and presented in a playful way so that you will not get bored.
The tasks are very different. Some show you foreign words and ask you to choose pictures that correspond to those. In others, you need to write a translation of words, phrases or whole sentences voiced by the program. There are also lessons in which you are asked to dictate what you read into a microphone to check your pronunciation.
Duolingo tries in every possible way to motivate the user to complete tasks without errors and study regularly. For each lesson passed, you are awarded special points - diamonds.
If you do not miss classes, then the program puts you in "shock mode" and rewards with even more diamonds. They will be needed to restore health, which is wasted due to incorrect answers. If you have no diamonds left and your health drops to zero, you will not be able to practice until the penalty time expires.
Subscription and in-app purchases
Duolingo is free to use, but it will show you ads. To turn off ads, you need to subscribe - $ 10 per month. Subscribers can download lessons and practice offline.
