It would seem that today you will not surprise anyone with the idea of a smart home. But the staff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, perhaps, succeeded. They have developed a device that can adapt the home atmosphere to a person's mood.
The unusual device was named EQ-Radio. It looks like a router, but it has much broader functionality. The device is able to recognize four emotions: inspiration, anger, sadness and pleasure. To understand what a person is experiencing, the device "listens" to his heartbeat and breathing. He receives the necessary information through radio waves reflected from the human body. Further, with the help of special self-learning algorithms, the device processes the received data and understands what state of mind you are in.
According to the creators of EQ-Radio, the accuracy of detecting a stranger's emotions is 72%. If the device deals with a person whose indicators he read repeatedly, then the probability of hitting the bull's-eye increases to 87%.
The developers claim that their invention can be used in order to adjust the house to the mood of the owner. For example, EQ-Radio suspects you have a righteous outburst. To calm you down a bit, the unit will play soothing music and dim the lights to create a comfortable atmosphere.
However, there are fears that EQ-Radio is another herald of the imminent uprising of machines, with which it is better not to joke. At the moment, it is not known whether he can go crazy and turn on you before bed instead of a lullaby, for example, a couple of AC / DC songs or turn your chandelier into a strobe.
New device information is coming soon. The developers plan to present it at the MobiCom conference, which will be held from October 3-7 in New York.
