The main thing is not to stop there.

It would seem that after completing a successful project, you can enjoy life and calculate your profits. But it's too early to relax. The best marketing strategy in this case is to take on a new project. If you are a writer, start a new book. If an actor, look for a new role. If you are an entrepreneur, start a new company.

Would The Godfather be so successful if it was not a trilogy, but one part? Would The Hobbit have become so popular without The Lord of the Rings? Marketers have long understood the importance of such a strategy. No wonder, for example, four bestsellers by Nassim Taleb - "Fooled by chance", "Black Swan", "On the secrets of stability", "Antifragility" - are positioned as a tetralogy, although they are not related to each other.

It takes time to create something that lasts. But don't just sit and wait. We need to move on and create something new.

Researchers have examined this phenomenon in music. It turned out that with the release of each new album, the artist's sales of previous records grow. This is due to the emergence of new information. Consumers learn about the artist and buy their old recordings.

This phenomenon is not limited to art only. Apple did not stop promoting the iPod and iPhone after their first appearance. They release improved versions of these products almost every year. And each time, the anticipation of buyers and the hype in the media only grows. Each new product of the company is linked to the previous ones to further engage users. This was part of Steve Jobs's business strategy.

If you did something and it worked out very well, don't stop there - go and do something else. Just determine what's next.

Woody Allen also shares this view. For several decades, he has been shooting a film almost every year. He tries to achieve quality through quantity. “If you shoot many, many films, sometimes you get one outstanding one,” the director shared.

With each new attempt, you hone your craft and increase your chances of creating something lasting and beautiful. The main thing is to create, create and create again.

This does not mean that you need to agree to everything in the hope that at least something will shoot. This is the mistake many publishers and labels make. Instead of this:

  • Be picky.
  • Focus on the long term.
  • Be open to everything new, but choose carefully what to agree to.
  • Give preference to ideas that have a chance to become eternal.

You're not a designer yet if you've drawn something in Photoshop. Not everyone who publishes a book becomes a writer. It's just the person who published the book.

To become a real writer, you need to write many books. To become a real entrepreneur, you need to open more than one business.

Of course, there are many talented people who have created only one thing. Mark Zuckerberg is still an entrepreneur, and Harper Lee is still a writer. But wouldn't the world be a better place if they created something else? Why should the first project be the last?

It is not enough to do one thing well. Do more. Do not stop after the first try, thinking that you have already left your legacy. Prove to the world and to yourself that you can do it over and over again.
