It is difficult to give up using the Internet even for a while. A few life hacks can help ease the pangs of digital detox.
Go offline with loved ones
Ask family, friends or roommates to temporarily stop using the Internet and devices with you. If you give yourself a digital detox, but you are constantly surrounded by people who do not break away from laptops and smartphones, you are likely to quickly break down and nothing will work out.
Tell your loved ones about the benefits of temporary offline care: people who use the Internet too much are more likely to suffer from psychological problems and do not get enough sleep.
Warn others about your plans
To avoid misunderstandings, inform those who may be trying to contact you via the Internet that you are going offline for a while.
If you are afraid of missing an important message from someone close to you, let them know in advance how you can be contacted in case of an emergency. Or ask someone who will be by your side at all times to keep you informed of significant events.
Consider incentives
Talk to your friends about the punishment that awaits you if you can't stick to your offline care plan. For example, agree that for every minute you spend on the Internet, you will pay someone close to you 100 rubles.
Come up with positive incentives to give up devices. Spend an evening at the spa or go to the theater for a performance you have long wanted to see, instead of spending the same time on social media.
Start small
Going offline completely right away can be difficult. Start with small restrictions.
For example, check your email no more than twice a day, and limit your use of social media and instant messengers to 5 minutes every two hours. First, leave your laptop and smartphone charging at home, and only then force yourself to go outside without any devices at all.
