British scientists set out on a voyage to find the lost Atlantis. Suddenly a monster attacks the ship. It drags the entire crew into an underwater country inhabited by monsters and amphibians. It turns out that it is ruled by aliens from Mars who want to enslave humanity. The heroes have to get out of a dangerous place.
The film was written by Brian Hales, who became famous for his work on the TV series Doctor Who. Later, based on the "Leaders of Atlantis" writer Paul Victor created a novel of the same name.
The picture received recognition not only in its homeland. Having reached the USSR in the early 80s, she became popular with schoolchildren.

The film tells about 30 years in the life of the famous scientist. To make the picture reliable, director Jerome Sall collected data on the life of the navigator. In addition to this information, the script is based on two books. One of them - "My Father, Captain" - was written by the eldest son of an oceanographer. Despite the good factual base of the film, the Cousteau Crew community did not approve of the film. In the opening credits, the organization warns that it is relinquishing responsibility for portraying Jacques Yves Cousteau and his life.

Nevertheless, "Aquaman" received recognition from the audience. It grossed about $ 1.48 billion worldwide and became the highest grossing film in DC comics.

The film by Wes Anderson is dedicated to the work of the famous explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau. The viewer can guess this from the red hats worn by the crew members in the picture. Such a headdress was worn by Cousteau.
