How to be an ordinary person

Take everything for granted

Do everything as society requires, and do not doubt anything. Be safe and predictable. Do not ask yourself if you are on the right path, and even more so do not take the liberty of making your own life decisions.

From childhood you were given a ready-made script: to finish school with excellent marks, enter a prestigious university, find a decent job and raise two children. Retreating from it is an unnecessary waste of energy.

Don't ask unnecessary questions

Listen to the main and strong ones, because they probably know what they are talking about. Never question their authority and the correctness of their point of view.

Defend stability - the state of affairs as it is now. And do not risk thinking that things could have turned out differently. Always stay on the safe side of the majority and beware of threatening change. Surround yourself only with those who think the same.

Go to university, because "it is necessary"

Not because you want to learn. Listen to parents who only recognize lawyers and doctors, and listen to your grandmother's advice about the prestige of the profession. Ask your friends where they are going to apply.

Spend four, five, or even six years waiting for you to graduate in a major you hate. Join the ranks of high school dropouts or managers who hate their jobs. Make sure that education today is a formal stage.

Spend 40 hours a week at work, but only work 20

Spend the rest of your time surfing the Internet, continuously updating the VKontakte feed and having tea with your colleagues. Sit on AliExpress, spin in your chair, count the cracks in the ceiling. You can look out the window for a couple of hours and even watch the series stealthily from the boss. Or go for a smoke break every half hour to the nearest minute. You work "for your uncle", why bother?

Keep dreaming about career growth. Be prepared to take all the credit if the team succeeds, and find someone to blame in advance when the project goes downhill. Never take responsibility for anything. And if you once failed at something, do not try again.

Get to a popular resort a couple of times

After all, it is there, in safety and comfort, that all your friends rest. Do not risk exploring new places, do not fill your head with complicated plans and wild travels. Forget about exotic countries, extreme excursions and hiking trips.

Choose only hotels where the staff speaks your native language. Don't embarrass yourself - don't try to talk to locals on your fingers.

Spend more than you earn

And much more is better. Take out the largest apartment you can afford on a mortgage. Spend 30 years of your life and a third of your salary repaying debt. Make empty space with expensive furniture and appliances.

Get a car loan. Not anyhow, but at least not worse than that of your friends. Don't forget to complain about endless traffic jams, expensive maintenance, and sky-high gasoline prices.

Don't try to learn languages - let foreigners learn your

Avoid immersing yourself in a foreign culture and trying to look at the world from a different angle. Close your mind to new ideas, opinions, and experiences. Let others adjust to you. Why waste time on this at all?

Think about writing a book, but don't write it

Imagine how you are arranging the presentation of your novel. It becomes a bestseller and is sold in huge numbers. Here you are sitting in your office and reading the script of the film, which began to be filmed according to your plot. You get big royalties and become famous all over the world. Imagine - and do nothing else.

Dream of opening your own business, but don't open it

Complain about an uncomfortable office chair and a stupid boss. Criticize unnecessary dress codes, tight schedules, and vacations twice a year. Dream of working on the beach before lunchtime, a line in Forbes, and friendly conversations with investors. Imagine a trendy private house, luxury mansion or apartment in New York.

Do nothing for this. Because the competition is high, and you, as always, do not have time, useful connections and rich parents. Anyway, business is a terrible risk, and if you fail, it will be very embarrassing.

Don't stand out from the crowd

If you are not sure that your ideas and opinions will be supported by the majority, keep quiet. Otherwise, you risk becoming the object of criticism and excessive interest from others. But this is stress and constant struggle.

For the same reason, avoid striking differences with those around you. Keep a close eye on their lives and take their path as a guide to action.

Wait for fate itself to give you a gift

Go to work regularly and obediently carry out all the orders of your boss. Silently be offended that you have not yet been given a promotion and your salary has not been increased. Mentally reproach curious trainees and energetic newcomers for being upstarts.

Don't stop hoping to be noticed and praised. Give up trying to get better, because someone will definitely accept you for who you are. Happiness will definitely overtake you - you just need to be patient.
