What do you need

For 8 cans with a volume of ½ l:

  • 1 500 g cabbage;
  • 1,500 g of beets;
  • 500 g carrots;
  • 500 g of tomatoes;
  • 500 g of onions;
  • 500 g red bell pepper - optional;
  • 2 tablespoons of salt;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 500 ml of vegetable oil;
  • 2 tablespoons 70% vinegar essence.

How to prepare dressing for borscht for the winter

Chop the cabbage thinly. Coarsely grate the beets and carrots. Cut tomatoes, onions and peppers into small pieces. You don't need to add pepper to the dressing: the borscht will still be delicious.

Place prepared vegetables in a large saucepan. Add salt, sugar and butter and mix thoroughly.

Place a saucepan over medium heat and bring the contents to a boil. Pour in vinegar essence and cook, stirring occasionally, for another 7 minutes. Divide the hot dressing into sterilized jars.

Roll them up, turn them over and cover with something warm. When the jars are completely cool, transfer them to a cool, dark place.

How to use borsch dressing

The vegetables in the dressing are ready. So you will need a minimum of time and effort to prepare borscht.

Place the potatoes in a saucepan of boiling water or meat broth. Boil it almost until tender.

Then add the dressing, stir and cook for no more than 5 minutes. Add salt and chopped herbs to the borscht.
