Buckwheat will be delicious in a saucepan, slow cooker, microwave or oven. We promise.
How to prepare buckwheat
First, sort out the cereal. Even if you buy an expensive product, there is a chance that it will contain plant debris. So do not be lazy to look through buckwheat and remove all foreign elements.
Then rinse the cereals under running water until the liquid becomes clear.
To make the dish even more crumbly and aromatic, you can additionally anneal the dried cereal a little in a hot frying pan. Set the fire to a small one and do not overdo it: a slight buckwheat aroma should appear. As a rule, 3-4 minutes is more than enough for this.
How much water to take
Most often, water is used twice as much as buckwheat. That is, for 1 glass of cereal, you will need 2 of the same glasses of water. In this case, buckwheat will turn out to be crumbly. But if you like a viscous porridge, take more liquid - for example, 2, 5, or 3 glasses.
What to add to buckwheat
Pour salt into the water. For 1 cup of cereal, ¹⁄₂ teaspoon of salt or even a little less is enough. But it's better to be guided by your taste. It's okay if you add salt to the ready-made porridge. You can also add your favorite spices.
After cooking, put a piece of butter in the buckwheat and leave it covered for a few minutes - this will make the porridge more tender and aromatic.
How to cook buckwheat in a saucepan
Place the cereals in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15–20 minutes. Many people throw buckwheat into boiling water. In this case, the cooking time does not change, but the heat must be reduced immediately after adding the cereal.
There is no need to stir the porridge during cooking. The readiness of buckwheat can be checked by running a spoon along the bottom. If there is no water there, then the pot can be removed from the stove.
If you are afraid that you will be late and the cereal will burn, remove it from the heat a little earlier and leave it covered for 10 minutes. Buckwheat will absorb the remaining water.
How to cook buckwheat in a slow cooker
Put the cereals in a multicooker bowl and cover with cold water. Close the lid and cook the porridge in the "Groats", "Buckwheat" or "Porridge" mode for 25–35 minutes. The time depends on the mode and type of multicooker.
How to cook buckwheat in the microwave
Pour the cereal into a microwave-safe container and cover with cold water. Place a lid on the pan and cook for 7 minutes on 800 watts. Then stir and cook for another 5-7 minutes at 600 watts.
How to cook buckwheat in the oven
Place the cereals in a heatproof container. Cover with cold water and cover with a lid or foil. Cook the porridge at 190 ° C for 30-40 minutes. Then let it brew in the switched off oven for another 10-15 minutes.
How to cook buckwheat without cooking
Pour the cereals into a glass dish with a lid. A regular jar or glass container will do. If there is no suitable container, use a deep plate, and instead of a lid, use a flat saucer.
Remember that buckwheat increases in volume, so dry cereals should not take up more than half of the dishes.
Pour boiling water over the cereal, cover and leave for at least 1 hour. You can additionally wrap the dishes. Buckwheat should swell and absorb liquid.
Instead of boiling water, you can use cold water, but the porridge should be infused for at least 6 hours. In this case, the container must be removed to the refrigerator.
