Millions of people are constantly thinking how to get rid of their weaknesses. The harsh truth is that you may never get over them, but you can make significant changes in your life and work if you focus on what you are good at.

Your strengths are not activities that you successfully manage, they are what strengthens you. Strengths are activities that you take on with inspiration, during which time flies by and you can concentrate easily, and when you finish the job, you feel satisfied.

How do you figure out what your strengths are? There are four criteria:

  1. You are great (and not just good) at this job.
  2. When you think about the work ahead, you are inspired and want to get started soon.
  3. When you are engaged in this business, it is easy for you to concentrate, you are completely absorbed in activity, you do not notice how time flies.
  4. When you finish work, you feel even more energized than at the beginning.

If at work you will mainly do what you are strong at, then this is what awaits you:

  • you will demonstrate amazing performance;
  • you will enjoy what you are doing;
  • you will always have intrinsic motivation;
  • work will be a joy, and you will be happier.

In a study published in, it is noted that a person who remembers criticism in his address does not always transform the awareness of mistakes into higher performance.

It has also been found that being aware of one's strengths leads to understanding how to deal with weaknesses and helps to gain the confidence needed to fight. For example, you might say, “I’m a great leader, but I don’t know the numbers. Instead of trying to teach me math, you better find me a partner who is great at it."

Do not worry about what you are not very good at, and do not try with all your might to achieve success. Start playing on your strengths. You cannot handle everything well. Maybe they could, but it certainly won't be great. Because you don't want to.

Usually famous people are excellent only in one thing, but their activities in this direction change our life - sometimes insignificantly, sometimes radically. Who said these people have no weaknesses? Everyone has them, but these people chose to focus on strengths. They spent their time efficiently.

Einstein became the most famous scientist in the world because he was madly focused on the idea of general relativity. William Shakespeare wrote at least 154 sonnets and 37 plays, including Hamlet, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth. He loved to write.

These people are known for their unrivaled contributions to changing the course of world history. They were making the most of their time when they realized what they should be spending it on. Dedicate most of your time to doing the right thing and the rest to taking care of yourself.

What are you passionate about? Channel your energies into finding the one thing that gives you the most satisfaction, and if you can, make it your job. Forget weaknesses and follow your passion.

The truth is, if you spend enough time on something, you will get results in the end. But why waste time every day fighting to be successful in something that is not your true passion?

Too many of us spend our lives battling our weaknesses when we could develop our strengths. Most people are constantly doing what they hate, trying to master and improve as many skills as possible, to achieve success in too many areas instead of becoming indispensable in one.

You won't be able to avoid the drudgery entirely, of course, but know that how you mostly spend your time will make up for it. So do more of what matters. Remember your strengths and have a plan for how to use them. Concentrate on your passion to arrive at a better version of yourself. This is how you will greatly increase your chances of success in life and work.
