The resource of one of the oldest universities in the United States will help.
The Art Institute of Chicago recently updated its website with a handy database of high-definition paintings. Many of them are in the public domain: they can be used in any way, even for commercial purposes. Or you can print and hang on the wall.
You are free to view any works of art, but you can download in high definition only those that are freely available. The arrow in the lower right corner is responsible for this.
Among the works available for download are the following pictures:
- The Bedroom in Arles by Vincent van Gogh;
- "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet;
- Bathing a Child by Mary Cassatt;
- The Two Sisters by Pierre Auguste Renoir;
- “At the Moulin Rouge” by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec;
- "Still Life with a Basket of Apples" by Paul Cézanne.
These are just a few examples - there are a lot of such pictures. You can browse them by category such as Impressionism or Animals. There is sorting by various parameters such as date and place of creation and, in fact, public availability. There is also a regular search.
