If done correctly, the glass can be removed in a few seconds.

What is the problem

Protective glasses have an adhesive layer, due to which they firmly adhere to the flat surface of the screen, especially after prolonged use.

Removing them is quite problematic: even if you manage to pry off the glass, it will simply crack further or crumble into small pieces. The task becomes even more complicated when you need to remove an already split defense to replace it with a new one.

How not to do

The first thing that comes to mind is to use an old credit card to withdraw. You may be able to do it with due diligence, but most likely, the glass will simply break off, even if you manage to pry it off.

A sharp clerical knife is also not a good idea, despite the recommendations on the Internet. Metal is metal after all: one careless movement and the blade can easily leave a scratch on the display.

Even a silicone suction cup, for all its harmlessness, is capable of messing things up. Due to the smooth surface, the glass adheres so strongly to the screen that a good suction cup can raise the protection along with the sensor module or break its fixation.

How to properly remove the protective glass from your phone

You can remove the armor without consequences only by inserting an object between it and the display. The tool should be soft enough not to damage the screen, yet hard enough to squeeze through.

Plastic or strong thread is best suited for this. The thinner the insert, the less chance of glass breaking.

How to remove protective glass with plastic

1. Find plastic that is no more than 2-3 sheets of paper thick. This can be a pointed pick, a thin discount card, or a pill pack.

2. Select the corner of the glass with the least cracks and gently pry it off with plastic to peel the protection off.

3. Continue to lead with an impromptu paddle around the perimeter of the defense, going deeper towards the center.

4. When the glass is sufficiently detached from the screen, insert a thin plastic card into the gap.

5. Move the card further until the protection is completely removed from the display.

How to remove a protective glass with a thread

1. Use dental floss, any thread that is thin and strong enough, or fishing line.

2. Pull the thread with both hands, while holding the smartphone with your palms, and pry the glass at one of the corners. Move left and right as if you were sawing. If the defense is broken, choose the most complete area.

3. Continue to pull the thread until you reach the second corner, and then move to the middle until the glass is completely away from the screen.
