When everything collapses around and a beautiful plan turns into chaos, everyone needs a straw that will help him stay afloat, not to retreat and not admit defeat. Here are five thoughts that will support you in times of difficulty and help you emerge victorious from your battle with circumstances.

What you need to remember when plans collapse

In achieving anything, you will not do without problems and obstacles. If it seems to you that some people succeed easily and quickly, you simply do not know anything about the problems and difficulties of these people. After all, it is not customary to talk about problems on social networks, everyone posts only beautiful results.

Realize that it won't be easy

When you have a big goal and you are about to achieve it, the important thing is to understand one thing: it will not be easy. If you understand this, the following happens:

  1. You start to work harder because you realize that you won't be able to get things done by working half your strength.
  2. If something breaks your plans, it is not so unsettling because you expected it.

The brick wall is here for a reason. Brick walls are not made to hold us back, they are here to give us a chance to understand how badly we want something. Because brick walls will stop people who don't want strong enough. They are here to stop others.

Randy Pausch "Last Lecture"

So every time a brick wall grows in your path, rejoice in it. This is a great reminder that you are on the right track, and now you only need to find a workaround, smash that wall or do something else with it in order to get on.

Each person, trying to achieve something, is forced to struggle with obstacles on his way. Understanding this fact helps to maintain balance in thoughts and not slip into pessimism when it seems to you that the whole world is up in arms against you.

Concentrate on what you can control

Why focus on anything else? We live in a world where only a small part of us is under our control. We spend most of our energy overcoming resistance and struggling with circumstances: the opinion of other people, the weather, the economy and other forces that we either cannot influence, or we can, but with great difficulty.

If you start focusing on what you can control (your behavior, work ethic, the way you influence other people, and the way you work every day), you become much more productive and focused. After all, in this case, problems do not distract you, you just work on what you can change.

Often we cannot control the result, we can only influence what efforts we make to achieve the goal.

There is no point in worrying about things that are beyond your control because there is nothing you can do about them. And why worry about things you can control? Worry makes you uncollected.

Remember why you started

We grew up in a time when social status is determined by the amount of money on the card and an expensive car, and not the important work that you do for society. Of course, there are exceptions, but let's be realistic: most parents do not dream of their children becoming teachers or artists.

But still, people for whom only money is important, and not the work itself, receive much less than those who are passionate about the idea. The story of science fiction writer Neil Gaiman is a perfect illustration of this. In 2012, he wrote a book that was supposed to become a bestseller, but the publishing house closed. As a result, his book was not published and he received no money.

In the future, I will try to write books not only for money. Otherwise, if I do not receive the money, I will have nothing left. But if I create something to be proud of and don't get paid for it, then at least I will have my job. From time to time I forget this rule, and then the universe reminds me, hard and rough. I don’t know if this is true for anyone else, but for me personally, everything I’ve ever done for money didn’t bring anything. Except for the bitter experience.

Don't go out of your way

Unfortunately, most of us stop at the very beginning, are afraid of the first obstacles and look for a way to escape. Or we start our own path, we have all the resources to go through it, but we start looking back at other people: they have better jobs, bigger cars, more beautiful houses, and they have achieved more.

Remember, you are the only measure of your success. As long as you are doing your best, you are on the right track. And you shouldn't make decisions based on the opinions of other people. Change something only if you yourself feel that this is the wrong way.

Experience gratitude

Everyone has something to thank the universe for. If things go awry at work, you may have a loving family or good friends. You have good looks, talents and abilities, the means to get off to a good start. After all, you are healthy and full of energy, you live and breathe. And this is already great.

Remembering, you tune in to a positive wave, feel happier and less worried about trouble.

Remember often what you are grateful for. This will help you to shift your focus away from difficulties, avoid unnecessary dramatization, and gain the strength and courage to solve your problems.

So, ask yourself: “What do I want to achieve in life?”, Realize that it will not be easy and there will be many obstacles on your way, that you do not control many areas of your life and you will have to put up with failures and bypass obstacles that will not work destroy.

At the same time, choose a worthy goal and do not forget about it, do not look back at other people so as not to deviate from the chosen path, and often remember what you already have and for what you are grateful.

These thoughts will help you complete your plans and achieve your goal, despite all the difficulties.
