Change the settings to manage system updates.
Auto-downloading Android updates is annoying. Internet speed drops due to downloading a large amount of data in the background, notifications about the need to update are constantly popping up. But this can be stopped by taking control of the system upgrade.
Disable automatic download of updates
Go to Android settings and open the "System Update" section. On some firmwares, it can hide inside the "About phone" submenu. Click on the button with three dots in the upper right corner, select "Settings" and disable automatic download of service packs. After that, you will have to check for updates manually.
If there are no additional options in the "System Update" section, then the creators of the firmware believe that there is nothing wrong with a short request to the server for updates. You can fix this by flashing Android to a different assembly, but it's worth considering whether there is such a need.
If auto-update cannot be disabled, the system will only check for updates. Android will ask for permission to download and install them.
To ensure that the update does not interfere with the normal operation of your phone or tablet, enable a scheduled installation: for example, at night, from two to five o'clock. Remember to plug in your charger so the update goes smoothly.
Removing an update
If the update has been downloaded, but there is no place on the device to install it, or you just do not want to update, delete it from memory. To do this, you need root rights. The update file is stored in the Cache folder and is named Updates.zip. If, after removing it, you prohibit the autoloading of updates, then nothing else will be downloaded without your knowledge.
Disable notifications
Another major annoyance is update notifications. There are three ways to escape them: install an update, get root rights and remove the update, or turn off notifications. Everything is clear with the first two, let's study the third option in detail.
Open "Applications" in settings. Find "Google Play Services". Click on "Notifications" and disable their appearance.
It is also impossible without notifications: there is a chance to miss an important message or update. Therefore, this option should be considered as a temporary measure. Next, you need to make a decision: either root and uninstall the update, or clear the memory for installing it.
