The fourth part of Toy Story won the Best Animated Feature Film category. And that's why.

The cartoon has ingenious creators

The director of Toy Story 4, Josh Cooley, is in a sense a debutant. His only directing jobs are the short films George & AJ and Riley's First Date. Cooley also featured as a co-writer on Puzzle, and prior to that worked primarily as a storyboard artist at Pixar.

In any other case, one could say that an inexperienced director should not be trusted with such an important franchise. But the point is, Pixar films are not copyrighted. These are team projects from people who are extremely talented in their field.

In this studio they know perfectly well how to allocate resources so that the product turns out to be executed at a high artistic level, and, to be honest, profitable.

Toy Story 4 has a well-thought-out script

The leitmotif of the franchise was and remains the fear of a changing world - a problem that is relevant for any age. In the first film, the toy cowboy Woody was afraid that the astronaut Buzz Lightyear would push him out of sight of his beloved owner.

The following pictures gradually developed the idea of how scary it is to be unnecessary, and gradually came to the topic of wilting, the main one for "Toy Story - 4".

The new and, according to Woody's voice, Tom Hanks, the final film makes it clear that toys treat their owners the same way parents treat children. Woody's experiences are similar to the feelings of his father, who, in his declining years, is afraid to be unnecessary.

The cowboy in this part really looks like an old man. The writers do not forget to hint: the hero was made in the 50s. And a significant part of the action takes place in an antique store among antiquities that have outlived theirs.

The great thing is that, having thought over the motivation for the main character, the creators did not forget about the minor ones. Every hero - no matter how insignificant he may be - is in his place.

The cartoon has adorable characters

It's no secret that Pixar manages to create the cutest heroes from year to year. The studio knows the classic laws of animation and understands how to make characters look and move in a way that will evoke emotion. Woody, Buzz, Jesse and the rest want to empathize: they look like they are alive.

In addition, the heroes are also close to the viewer on an emotional level, because they solve far from toy problems. This applies not only to positive characters, but also to negative ones.

In at least three parts of "Toy Story" - the second, third and fourth - the antagonists are revealed in detail. The viewer understands their actions. You can even sincerely sympathize with these villains. In addition, they are adorable: a harmless funny old man, a pink teddy bear and a cute doll - every second girl had this.

Toy Story 4 has amazing graphics

Each new Pixar cartoon is another step forward. In the first Toy Story, viewers were shown believable plastic characters. In "Monsters, Inc." - realistic wool. The first Incredibles showcased the latest advances in human body modeling, Finding Nemo a first-class work with light and water.

Toy Story 4 is no exception. Computer graphics, in particular working with lighting, has reached a new level. The light in the cartoon looks not just spectacular, but real. And in the final scene, the highlights are set to further emphasize the dramatic aspect of the film.

All in all, Toy Story 4 is not an unnecessary sequel, but a technical and conceptual breakthrough. But the main thing: the cartoon talks about serious adult problems in a language suitable for children.
