Our tips will help you achieve perfect smoothness.
How to prepare for waxing
- The length of the hair in the places of hair removal should be at least 0.5 cm.
- If you plan to remove facial hair with wax, stop using cosmetics containing retinol 2-3 days before the procedure. Under the influence of retinol, the upper layer of the skin becomes very sensitive, and during epilation there is a risk of tearing off the epidermis along with the hair.
- The day before epilation, scrub your skin with a hard washcloth or scrub. This is necessary in order to remove dead skin particles and ensure better adhesion of the hairs to the wax.
- If you are afraid of pain, reduce it to a minimum: take ibuprofen half an hour before the procedure or attach an ice pack to the depilation site. Remember that pain can get worse during your period, so try to remove your hair at a different time.
- Epilate in a warm room, for example, in the bathroom after a shower: in the warmth, the hair channels will expand and you will not be so painful.
- Shower and dry yourself before epilation. Wax adheres best to clean, dry skin.
- Sprinkle talcum powder on the depilation area to completely remove excess moisture from the skin.
If you have never waxed before, it makes sense to trust the expert.

How to epilate with ready-made wax strips
An obvious plus of ready-made wax strips is that you do not have to heat wax and wash the bathroom from its drops. However, using the strips is a little more painful than using hot wax.
Choose strips that are designed specifically for the area of the body that you intend to treat.
Heat the wax strip between your palms for a few seconds, then carefully peel off the protective layer.
Place the wax strip down to the epilation site and quickly smooth it in the direction of hair growth. Press the strip firmly to the body and leave it on the skin for a few seconds.
Stretch lightly and press your palm against the skin under the strip, and then in a quick, brisk motion, remove the wax against the hair growth.
At the same time, try to keep the strip as close to the skin as possible, that is, do not pull it up, but quickly pull it along the body.
One strip can be used 1-3 times. If it already does not catch the hairs well, replace it with the next one.
How to epilate with hot wax
Heat the wax by following the instructions on the package. The fastest way to do this is in the microwave, but you need to make sure that there is no foil on the jar. As a rule, 15–20 seconds are enough for a full jar. The consistency of the ready-to-use wax should resemble liquid honey.
Be sure to check the temperature of the wax by dropping it on your wrist. Too hot wax can burn you, and a little warm wax will not spread well.
Once the wax is at the correct temperature, dip the applicator in it and apply a thin layer in the direction of hair growth.
The thicker the hair grows, the thicker the wax layer should be and the more painful the procedure will be.
Quickly place a strip of cloth over the wax and smooth it in the direction of hair growth, leaving a free bottom edge to pull on.
After a few seconds, when the wax has set, lightly pull and press your hand against the skin under the strip, and then pull the fabric sharply against the hair growth.
Resist the temptation to take it off slowly and carefully - pull quickly, trying to pull along your body.
If epilation with hot wax met your expectations and you plan to carry out this procedure regularly, it makes sense to buy a wax heater (wax heater).
With it, you do not have to constantly run from the bathroom to the microwave to warm up the cooled wax.

How to make your own wax for hair removal
The simplest home wax recipe includes only three ingredients in a 1: 2: 4 ratio, namely:
- 50 g of paraffin;
- 100 g of beeswax;
- 200 g of rosin.
Put all the ingredients in a heat-resistant dish, melt in a water bath and stir. Once the mixture is liquid and homogeneous, remove it from the heat, let the wax cool to an acceptable temperature and start epilation.
However, it is still recommended to use a ready-made wax, in which the proportions of the ingredients are precisely observed and which has probably passed quality control in production. A self-made mixture can be no worse, but it can also fail if you come across poorly cleaned or, worse, fake wax with impurities of paraffin or stearin.
What to do after epilation
After epilation, remove wax residue with baby skin oil or olive oil.
Then apply body lotion to soothe your skin.
If there is a lot of hair left at the epilation site, the reasons may be as follows:
- Hair too short.
- The wax is too hot.
- The wax was applied against hair growth.
- Too thin wax layer.
Perhaps shugaring is more suitable for you.
