As rightly pointed out, technology offers exciting opportunities, but people behave horribly and find worse ways to use them. The fantastic TV series "Black Mirror" tells exactly about this. The selection includes already existing gadgets and services that in the future can change our world beyond recognition.
1. Magic Leap
American startup Magic Leap is working on a device that combines elements of augmented reality and computer vision. The prototype of the gadget greatly impressed the investors, and money fell on the developers as if from a cornucopia. At the same time, nothing was shown to the general public.
Specialized Internet publications suggest that Magic Leap is Google Glass on steroids. Glasses intertwine computer graphics with the real world. A number of patented technologies promise an ultra-clear picture, which simply has no analogues.
The image will be projected directly onto the retina of the eye. Correct shadows and geometry of artificial objects will leave no doubt that the person is surrounded by the real city of San Junipero.
2. Microsoft HoloLens
Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality glasses analyze the environment and complement it with holograms. For this, the headset has a hybrid HPU (Holographic Processing Unit) processor, a pair of cameras, a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a magnetometer. Together they create quite a quality illusion.
It is impossible not to note a specific sound system that imitates the sound coming from a specific object in space.
Microsoft HoloLens is an example of how quickly the line between digital and real life is blurring. Apparently, the developers of Microsoft HoloLens intend to integrate technology into the daily life of everyone. There is potential and opportunities for this.
3. Veeso
Watching how people from all countries and continents rush after Pokemon, you understand that childhood has no boundaries. Therefore, it is not very clear why the Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the Veeso virtual reality headset was withdrawn.
In general, this is a regular virtual reality helmet like Google Cardboard. The main feature is that the gadget is supplemented with a camera that tracks human facial expressions. Then the software gets down to business. It creates the user's avatar and projects the movements of the eyes, cheekbones, lips onto it.
Thus, we are again transported to imaginary worlds, where smiles spread over our faces under the light breath of a warm wind.
4. Snapchat Spectacles
The advanced teen Snapchat Spectacles capture 10-second clips and reflect what the person sees with their own eyes. The camera covers a panorama of 115 °.
A ring of LEDs notifies others about the start of recording, the glow is duplicated for the user himself. The video is sent to the smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, after which it is published in the Snapchat messenger.
The concept is very similar to the episode of "Black Mirror", in which the characters saved their memories on an electronic chip implant, and subsequently reproduced them using bionic contact lenses. Of course, the gap in the technical part is incommensurable, but the idea is very close.
5. ChatLike.me
Each of us has favorite words and phrases. Having studied them, you can accurately predict the beginning of a sentence or its structure. SwiftKey mobile keyboard users know this firsthand. She is the best at predicting typed words and phrases. The more you enter, the better the algorithm does.
The bot for Twitter ChatLike.me works in a similar way. Enter the name of the profile, and he will try to write a couple of messages from the specified person. At the same time, the bot learns the vocabulary, on the basis of which it imitates the writing style.
And this begs an analogy with digital clones of deceased people. Apparently, the hour is not far off when an electronic bot will make up for the sudden stop of someone's life.
6. Pact and Bitwalking
What could be better than money earned for a healthy lifestyle? No, this is not about Olympians or fitness trainers. Everyone can get a ruble for physical activity and proper nutrition. And there are at least two examples of this.
- Install the mobile application and make a small deposit - your contribution will go to the common piggy bank. Start training hard and talking about your successes so that the site will give you money from those who skip classes and refuse smoothies.
- Run Bitwalking utility and don't forget to move a lot. You will be rewarded with virtual money that can be donated to charity or spent on sports equipment.
You probably remember that in one of the series of "Black Mirror", humanity provided its existence at the expense of citizens pedaling on an exercise bike. Suppose that in the future these will be adherents of a healthy lifestyle.:)
7. Peeple
In Soviet times, C grade students were not taken as pioneers, but excellent students were set as an example to others. Today, the measure of social weight is thousands of likes and millions of subscribers on social networks. In pursuit of them, you can easily lose your human face. This was recently hinted to us by the writers of "Black Mirror". In one of the episodes, it is shown how people become outcasts according to the average assessment of the whole society.
To pry the public even more, the Netflix team launched a web service where you can assess your social circle and find out your own level of social importance. Of course, this is just marketing and advertising. On the other hand, the App Store has a pretty serious mobile app.
It cannot be unequivocally assessed whether a person is good or bad, but it is possible to give points for professional skills, personality traits and behavior in relationships. By the way, the app's rating is lower than the baseboard.
And which episode of "Black Mirror" will become reality first?
