Although the largest technology exhibitions in 2020 have completely gone online, a lot of interesting gadgets have appeared over the past 12 months. There are computers, wearable technology, and, of course, next-generation game consoles. Of this motley splendor, the most interesting novelty, in our opinion, is the new MacBook Air with an M1 processor.
This is the first laptop in the lineup with the new Apple Silicon chip. Visually, it does not differ from the Intel version and costs the same, but the performance has grown enormously: in some tests, the new product even surpasses the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which costs several times more. In addition, the laptop is very quiet: it has no cooler.
In addition to the usual macOS applications, the MacBook Air also runs programs for iOS, and most programs that are not adapted for ARM can be used through the Rosetta emulator. Moreover, this emulation slightly reduces the overall level of performance. Is this not a success?
