It was a big surprise for me how text editors look on Mac, after I switched to it from Windows. Many of them sacrifice functionality for the sake of minimalism and ease of use.
Despite this, there are many editors who have managed to combine both simplicity and feature set sufficient for any writer / blogger / journalist. For example, or iA Writer.
In this article we will tell you about the text editor OmmWriter - the standard of simplicity, minimalism and comfort.
Let's start right away with what sets OmmWriter apart from other text editors is the soundtrack. I have not seen such a function anywhere and for me it is still contradictory. The background music that OmmWriter has is very relaxing, but for me personally, it makes me sleepy. Writing in such conditions is not very comfortable.
The application interface is very simple. The entire work area is occupied by a field for writing text. When the cursor moves, a small menu appears, consisting of 6 items. Here you can choose a theme, turn music on or off, choose a font and font size, and save text or load a text file.
And if the music evokes an ambivalent reaction, the themes are great. Only the screensaver changes, but each of them is better than the previous one. It's hard to say more about OmmWriter for Mac. This is a great choice for those who love simplicity and minimalism.
And I almost forgot, OmmWriter for Mac has an amazing keystroke sound!
The iPad version is also very unusual. By tradition, let's go straight to its unique features. It differs from all other text editors by a very unusual on-screen keyboard. As you already understood, OmmWriter for iPad does not use the standard iOS keyboard, but the one that comes with the application.
It is difficult to talk about its necessity. Rather, its highlight is its appearance. However, it is very convenient that it can be moved around the screen, thereby finding the most comfortable position.
OmmWriter is a very interesting text application. Its functions may not be sufficient for advanced journalists or writers. However, I liked it and, perhaps, will become my main tool for typing.
