1. Jurassic Park

  • USA, 1993.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 127 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 1.

Eccentric scientist John Hammond invites a group of paleontologists to inspect an amusement park with cloned dinosaurs before it opens. But because of the sabotage organized by one of the employees, the lizards break free.

Before starting work on the film, Steven Spielberg was going to use moving models of dinosaurs, but the movements of the dolls were too sharp, they lacked convincingness. The special effects studio Industrial Light & Magic, founded by George Lucas, came to the rescue, thanks to which Jurassic Park revolutionized computer graphics.

2. Jurassic Park: The Lost World

  • USA, 1997.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 123 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 6.

Four years after the events of Jurassic Park, it is revealed that dinosaurs not only adapted to the wild on a nearby island, but also bred. The two conflicting groups of researchers who find themselves there must unite in the face of mortal danger.

Huge box office receipts many times overlapped production costs, although now "The Lost World" is considered far from the best picture of Steven Spielberg. But even the modern viewer will surely be impressed by the grandiose moving models of lizards and the most complex stereophonic special effects.

3. Jurassic Park - 3

Jurassic Park III

  • USA, 2001.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 92 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 9.

The wealthy entrepreneur offers paleontologist Alan Grant a sightseeing tour over the famous dinosaur island. However, the scientist finds out the true goal later: it turns out that the businessman wants to save his missing son, but this will be very difficult to do.

The third film in the franchise was directed by Joe Johnston (Honey, I Shrunk the Children, Jumanji). The film's budget even exceeded the previous ones, but it was difficult for the new director to compete with Spielberg in the art of production. In addition, by that time, the creators simply ran out of original ideas, so the tape came out weak and a little predictable.

4. Lost world

  • Germany, UK, USA, 2001.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 150 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 6.

The famous professor George Challenger finds out that dinosaurs still live in the Amazon jungle. Together with colleagues and friends, the scientist goes in search of the amazing prehistoric world.

Of all the adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle's novel The Lost World, the 2001 TV version was the most successful. Director Stuart Orme allowed himself minor changes to the literary source, but the film only benefited from this.

5. King Kong

  • New Zealand, USA, Germany, 2005.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 187 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 2.

Director Carl Denham travels with talented screenwriter Jack and actress Anne to a remote Indian Ocean island to shoot an adventure film. The heroes do not even suspect what dangers they will have to face there.

Kong's incredibly realistic plasticity was provided by Andy Serkis: the actor's movements were processed using a special technology. But in the scene of the battle of King Kong with the dinosaurs, the artist did not participate: the fact is that it turned out to be impossible to combine two interacting objects in the frame at once. As a result, the episode had to be completely simulated on a computer.

6. My house dinosaur

  • USA, Australia, UK, 2007.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 112 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 4.

An unsociable teenager Angus, who lives in a remote Scottish village near Loch Ness, once finds an egg in the coastal rocks. A small lizard hatches from that. The boy calls him Crusoe and hides him in his house, but the creature grows in size by leaps and bounds.

The film was shot in the vicinity of one of the most beautiful Scottish lakes - Loch Morar, in which, according to rumors, a monster similar to Loch Ness lives. Therefore, the swims of the boy Alex on the Crusoe look very spectacular, and the picture itself is perfect for viewing with the whole family.

7. Marine Dinosaurs 3D: Journey to the Prehistoric World

  • UK, France, 2010.
  • Popular science film.
  • Duration: 41 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 7.

The young naturalist Julie walks through the National Museum of Natural History with the "revived" Georges Cuvier, the famous French paleontologist. He reveals the secrets of prehistoric marine reptiles.

A 40-minute scientific and educational film about the life of marine dinosaurs is technically not a documentary. But then the picture looks in one breath, and the beauty of the underwater landscapes is breathtaking.

8. Godzilla

  • USA, Japan, 2014.
  • Science fiction, adventure, thriller.
  • Duration: 123 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 4.

Engineer Joe Brody has to sacrifice his own wife for the safety of the city - the girl dies in an accident at a scientific station. Many years later, the man is still convinced that what happened was not an accident. He is considered possessed, and even the son of Ford does not believe his father - but something ancient and powerful will indeed soon awaken due to human negligence.

Godzilla from the original 1954 film was a Jurassic dinosaur, awakened by nuclear explosions, and embodied the Japanese fear of atomic bombs. In the rethinking of the American director Gareth Edwards, everything is much simpler, but they still try to convey to the audience the idea of the danger of uncontrolled flirting with science.

9. Jurassic World

  • USA, 2015.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 125 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

The dinosaur theme park on Nublar Island is still open. After the death of John Hammond, it is owned by the Indian billionaire Simon Mazrani. The flow of visitors decreases, and the management decides to grow a new superdinosaur in the laboratory, which breaks free. Now all hope is for the former Marine Owen Grady, especially since the nephews of the main character Claire are lost on the island.

The sequel was released 14 years after the third part, so the film was shot by people who have nothing to do with the original trilogy (Steven Spielberg's name is on the list of producers, but purely formally). The cast also completely changed, and the charming Chris Pratt became the face of the franchise.

10. Jurassic World - 2

  • USA, 2018.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 128 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 2.

Nublar Island, where until recently there was a dinosaur park, may disappear due to a volcanic eruption. Owen Grady, the trainer of these giants, returns there to protect them.

Critics did not highly appreciate the addition of the popular franchise and dubbed the picture a weak and pointless attraction. But the audience, judging by the box office, liked the film: the film paid off its budget many times over. It seems that the conveyor cannot be stopped: the next, third part is expected next year.
