How to remove hair dye stains

What is needed

  • Brush with soft bristles;
  • liquid detergent;
  • oxygen bleach;
  • chlorine bleach;
  • dishwashing liquid;
  • ammonia;
  • isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol or 3% hydrogen peroxide;
  • white vinegar;
  • paper towels;
  • spoon or dull knife;
  • white rag;
  • cotton buds.

What to do with clothes

If a trace of brown, black and blue paint remains on the thing, the sequence of actions will be as follows:

  1. As soon as you notice a stain, apply some liquid detergent to it. Rub gently with a brush, then rinse thoroughly.
  2. Pour cool water into a basin and add oxygen bleach according to the instructions on the product package. Soak the garment for at least eight hours, preferably overnight. If the stain has disappeared, wash as usual, if it remains, repeat the procedure.
  3. If the oxygen bleach fails to remove the stain and the fabric is white, chlorine bleach can be used. Add 60 ml of the product to 4 liters of water and soak the item for 15 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly in clean water. Do not hold the garment for longer, it may damage the fabric.

The following algorithm of actions will help to remove spots from red shades:

  1. In a plastic or glass container, combine 1 liter of water, half a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, and 1 tablespoon of ammonia. Dip the part of the garment on which the stain is in this mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Rub the dirty area with your fingers and soak for another 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. In another bowl, combine 1 liter of warm water and ¼ cup of white vinegar. Soak the stained area for 30 minutes, then wash as usual.
  4. If the stain has not completely disappeared, add oxygen bleach to a bowl of water and soak the garment for eight hours or overnight. Then wash it again.

What to do with upholstery and carpets

  1. Gently scrape off any dried paint with a spoon or dull knife. Avoid rubbing the stain to prevent the paint from digging deeper into the fabric.
  2. In a plastic or glass container, combine 2 cups of cold water and 1 tablespoon each of white vinegar and dish soap.
  3. Apply the mixture to the stain. Depending on its size, a clean white rag or cotton swab is suitable for this. Start at the edges and work towards the center of the spot, trying to keep it from spreading even further. Use as little liquid as possible to avoid wetting the fabric too much. If the stain is old, let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Blot the marks with a paper towel and repeat the procedure if necessary.
  5. If the stain persists, moisten a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and rub the dirty area. Dry with a paper towel and repeat until the stain is gone. If the fabric is white, use hydrogen peroxide. Apply it for 2-3 minutes and then blot.
  6. After removing the stain, walk over the area with a clean, damp cloth and pat dry with a paper towel.

How to get rid of self-tanning traces

What is needed

  • Dishwashing liquid;
  • powder with enzymes;
  • oxygen bleach;
  • 3% hydrogen peroxide;
  • sponge;
  • brush with soft bristles;
  • paper towels.

What to do with clothes

  1. Turn the garment inside out and place it under cold running water. This removes excess self-tanning rather than pushing it deeper into the fabric.
  2. Add some dish soap to warm water to help remove the greasy part of the stain. Soak a sponge in the mixture and work over the stain, moving from the edges to the center.
  3. Rinse garment thoroughly in cold water and wash immediately with enzyme powder.
  4. If the stain remains, pour water into the bowl and add oxygen bleach following the instructions on the package.
  5. Soak the garment for eight hours or overnight. If after this the stain has disappeared, wash the item as usual. If not, repeat the procedure.
  6. If the previous steps did not help and the item is white, use hydrogen peroxide. Soak a cotton swab in it and apply to the stain, then rinse the item in cold water.

What to do with upholstery and carpets

  1. Collect as much of the spilled self-tanner as possible with a spoon or an unnecessary plastic card. Do not wipe to prevent the product from penetrating deeper into the fabric.
  2. Mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 teaspoon of dish soap. Wet the brush and start scrubbing the stain, moving from the edges to the center. Dry the area with a paper towel so that the rinse-off self-tanner stays on and does not creep out.
  3. If the stain persists, mix 1 tablespoon each of water and hydrogen peroxide and treat any traces of the product with this mixture. But keep in mind that peroxide can only be used on light colored fabrics. For bright colors, use a mixture of water and oxygen bleach.
  4. Soak a clean rag or sponge in cold water and rinse where the stain was. Squeeze it well so as not to wet the fabric too much. Then blot thoroughly with a paper towel and let dry naturally.

How to remove nail polish stains

What is needed

  • Acetone nail polish remover;
  • paper towels;
  • white rag;
  • cotton buds;
  • alcohol;
  • pipette.

What to do with clothes

  1. Remove a drop of nail polish from the fabric as soon as possible. Do not wipe it off, but scrape it off with something, so the varnish will not penetrate deep into the fibers.
  2. Check the composition of the fabric. If it contains acetate, triacetate, or acrylic, nail polish remover cannot be used. It can dissolve artificial fibers and leave a hole in things. If not, apply some nail polish remover to the inside seam to see if it will ruin the color of the fabric. If it has damaged the color, contact a dry cleaner. If not, the liquid can be used to remove the stain.
  3. Place a few paper towels under the stain to absorb excess nail polish remover. Dampen a white rag or cotton swab in it and gently wipe the stain, moving from the edges to the center.
  4. If after this there is still a colored spot, use rubbing alcohol. Soak a cotton swab in it and rub until the stain disappears.
  5. Now wash the item as usual.

What to do with upholstery and carpets

  1. Place a drop of nail polish remover on an inconspicuous area to see if it will ruin the color. If this happens, contact a professional for cleaning.
  2. If everything is in order, use a dropper or cotton swab to apply some liquid to the stain. Blot the area immediately with a white rag or paper towel, being careful not to smudge the stain further. Continue applying liquid until the stain is worn away.
  3. If the nail polish remover fails, let the stain dry, and then scrub it with a cloth dampened with alcohol.
  4. Rinse the stained area with a clean, damp cloth and pat dry with paper towels. Leave to dry naturally.

How to remove cream and lotion stains

What is needed

  • Enzyme stain remover;
  • washing powder;
  • dishwashing liquid;
  • spoon or dull knife;
  • brush with soft bristles;
  • rag;
  • paper towels;
  • vacuum cleaner.

What to do with clothes

  1. Use a spoon or dull knife to scrape off as much of the spilled product as possible. Try not to rub it deeper into the fabric.
  2. Apply an enzyme stain remover to the stain and rub with your fingers or a soft brush. Leave it on for 15 minutes. If you don't have a stain remover, use a liquid detergent or gruel made from regular powder mixed with water.
  3. Scrub the stain with a brush and rinse thoroughly in hot water. Then wash it at the highest temperature allowed.
  4. If the cream was not white, but colored, the previous steps may not be enough. Add oxygen bleach to cold water following package directions and soak for eight hours or overnight.
  5. If the stain has disappeared, wash the item as usual. If not, repeat the procedure.

What to do with upholstery and carpets

  1. Dampen a rag with a special carpet cleaner or a mixture of water and dishwashing detergent (1 tablespoon in 2 cups of cold water) and scrub the stain. Dry periodically with a clean dry rag or paper towels to prevent too much liquid from remaining in the fabric.
  2. Walk around the area with a clean, damp cloth to remove any remaining detergent.
  3. Blot thoroughly and leave to dry naturally. If the stain was on the carpet, vacuum it to restore the appearance of the pile.
