At least one of them should work, even if the keyboard is broken or you have picked up a virus.
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
A well-known combination to all without exception. In older versions of Windows, using these keys would launch the Task Manager instantly. Since Vista, this combination has been used to display the system security screen.
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and you will be offered options: lock the computer, switch to another user, log out, and, in fact, open the "Task Manager".
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
But this combination already opens directly the "Task Manager". Provided, of course, that your keyboard works.
In addition, the Ctrl + Shift + Esc combination can be used to launch the Task Manager when working with a remote desktop or in a virtual machine, while Ctrl + Alt + Delete only affects your computer.
3. Press Windows + X and open the power user menu
Windows 8 and Windows 10 have a so-called Power User Menu. It allows you to quickly access tools such as Command Prompt, Control Panel, Run, and, of course, Task Manager.
Press Windows + X and a menu will open in the lower left corner of your screen. It will not be difficult to find the desired item there.
4. Right-click on the taskbar
If you prefer to use a mouse over your keyboard, or the latter doesn't work, you can launch Task Manager without any combination. Just click on the taskbar with the right mouse button, and in the menu that opens, select the desired item. Fast and easy.
5. Find "Task Manager" in the "Start" menu
The Task Manager is a standard Windows 10 program. And it runs like any self-respecting program, including through the main menu. Open the Start menu, then locate the System Tools - Windows folder. The "Task Manager" will be there.
Or in "Start" start typing taskmgr or "task manager" - you will find the one you are looking for.
6. Run through the "Run" menu
You can do a lot of cool things through the Run menu, including opening the Task Manager. Press Windows + R to open the Run window, then type taskmgr and press Enter.
7. Find the taskmgr.exe file in Explorer
The longest way. We have no idea why you might need it, but what if? Open "File Explorer" and go to the folder
C: / Windows / System32
… Scroll down the list of files or search through the "Explorer" panel - you will find taskmgr.exe. Double click it.
8. Create a shortcut on the taskbar
If you are tired of all these manipulations and want simplicity and convenience, why not just pin the "Task Manager" to the Windows 10 bar? Launch it in any of the ways listed above, click the icon on the panel and select "Pin to taskbar". Now it is easy to launch the dispatcher with one click at any time.
You can also dock it in quick access to the Start menu by simply dragging and dropping. Find the "Task Manager" in the "System - Windows" folder, as in the fifth paragraph, and drag it to an empty space in "Start", to the right of the list of applications.
9. Create a shortcut on the "Desktop"
Do you want to create a shortcut for the dispatcher not on the panel, but on the desktop or in some folder? Right-click on an empty spot where you want to place the shortcut and select New → Shortcut. In the object location field, enter:
C: / Windows / System32 / taskmgr.exe
Click Next, give it a name and click Finish. The shortcut will be saved to your desktop or folder.
