File manager, cloud client, FTP server, text editor - all this and much more in one application.
1. Facilitate access to files
The main task of "ES Explorer" is to manage files, and he copes with it well. As expected, "ES Explorer" can copy, paste, create and delete documents. You can also search by file name and sort the contents of folders by attributes such as date modified, size, type, and so on.
Two functions of "ES Explorer" are useful for those who forget where important files are on their smartphone. This manager can add electronic documents to favorites (a kind of quick access bar) and create shortcuts for them on the Android home screen (works with most launchers). This way you will not lose anything.
Favorite files and folders appear in the sidebar, in the "Bookmarks" section. To place the desired object there, select it, open the "More" menu in the panel below and select "Add to bookmarks". And if you choose Add to Desktop, a shortcut to a file or folder will appear right on your home screen.
2. Rename groups of files
ES File Explorer allows you to bulk rename files on Android without any third party tools. Open the folder with the documents you want to change the names of and select them. Then click the Rename button in the panel below.
The Batch Rename window opens. In it, you can massively change the existing names of the selected files, add numbering or arbitrary text to them.
3. Archive and unpack files
With the file manager, you can archive files in ZIP and 7z and unpack them. Select the files you want, open the More menu and select Compress. In the "ES Archiver" window that appears, specify the name of the archive, select its format and compression, and, if necessary, assign a password.
If you want to unpack the archive, open it in the file manager, mark the files in it and click "Extract" in the panel below.
4. Delete files
On the ES File Explorer home screen, there is a trash can icon, where files to be deleted are sent by default. So you can restore them if necessary. This is useful if you inadvertently deleted something important.
However, the "Recycle Bin" is easy to disable. To do this, open the side panel "ES Explorer", scroll through the settings to the end and click on the "Trash" switch.
5. Encrypt files
"ES Explorer" allows you to encrypt files with a password. This way you can protect confidential data. An encrypted file becomes unreadable for all applications until you open it through ES Explorer and enter a password.
To encrypt a file or group of files, select them, click the More button on the toolbar and select Encrypt. Create a password, enter it twice and click OK. Now the files can be opened only in "ES Explorer" and only after entering the password.
6. Connect to cloud services
Nowadays, many file managers provide access to cloud storage, but it was once a proprietary chip of "ES Explorer", for which it received universal recognition.
You can connect Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, SugarSync, OneDrive, Amazon S3, Yandex. Disk, MediaFire to ES Explorer and work with files in the cloud as if they were on your device. Just go to "Cloud Drive" on the home screen of the file manager, select your service and grant the application access to it by entering a password.
7. Connect to computers on the local network
Another feature of ES Explorer that made it so popular. If your computer and smartphone are connected to the same local network, you can view files from shared folders on your drive.
Thus, you can store heavy files on your computer without clogging up the smartphone's memory, and, if necessary, access them over the air.
You can connect to a local network by opening the LAN item in the "Network" section on the side panel. Just make sure the folders you want are shared on the target computer.
8. Share files
ES Explorer has a built-in FTP server. By activating this feature, you will provide access to files on your Android device. It will be possible to connect to it via FTP clients (the same FileZilla) to open, copy, move and delete files without touching the smartphone.
If you have a Chromecast or Smart TV on Android, you can play videos and music from your mobile device on your TV without cables. It is enough that the gadgets are connected to the same Wi-Fi.
9. Remove garbage from smartphone memory
Yes, there is a semblance of CCleaner in ES Explorer. When launched, it analyzes the contents of the smartphone's memory and looks for what can be deleted. "ES Explorer" is able to find and delete temporary files and duplicates, application logs, the contents of the recycle bin and other garbage.
It also finds files that are too large and sorts them by size. This way you can remove the ones that are taking up too much space. The File Analyzer has been placed right on the ES Explorer home page.
10. Edit text files
ES Explorer contains a built-in text editor. Quite simple, it only knows how to work with files in TXT format and is a kind of "Notepad" Windows.
"ES Explorer" can create new text files and open existing ones, contains a search tool and supports many different encodings. So, you should have no problems opening TXT files.
There is a text editor and support for programming languages and layout, as well as a tool for creating HTML color codes.
11. Listen to music and watch videos
The player in ES lacks stars from the sky, but it will be enough for unpretentious users. Plays both music and video. Can create playlists, display covers and set ringtones. The cover is displayed only if it is embedded in the tags of the file: downloads from the Internet are not provided.
Song information can be obtained by clicking on the web search button below. It opens the built-in browser from Yahoo. Yes, there is also a browser.
12. Manage applications
The application manager in "ES Explorer" for the most part duplicates the functions of a standard Android tool, but it also has a couple of its own chips. First, if you have root rights, it can remove system applications. Secondly, it knows how to back up utilities, that is, create copies of their APK. This is useful if you are removing a system program but want to leave the option to restore it.
For those who find the functionality of "ES Explorer" to be redundant, and the interface is cumbersome, it is better to pay attention to other file managers that can do almost the same thing, but weigh less and do not slip ads and a cleaner to users.
