YouTube Music gives you access to a huge catalog of music, and YouTube Premium lets you download videos and removes ads.
Streaming services YouTube Music and YouTube Premium have become available in Russia and 11 other European countries. The former is an extended replacement for Google Play Music, while the latter gives premium access to both YouTube music and video content.
YouTube Music
Google's new music service includes a catalog of label songs and user generated content like covers and live recordings. The platform should eventually replace Google Play Music. If you subscribe to the latter, then you won't have to pay for YouTube Music.
YouTube Music comes in two versions - free and paid. The limitation of the first is ubiquitous advertising. Also, premium users can listen to music even when the smartphone is locked and download songs to the device. If you pay for the service, the application will generate a playlist for offline listening with 100 tracks.
The platform constantly monitors the user's location and offers playlists based on it. You can also search for songs by sounds, entering them in regular letters. This also works in Russian.
A subscription to YouTube Music will cost 169 rubles per month if you pay through the site. When ordering through the App Store, premium access will cost 229 rubles. There is also a family subscription for five people for 269 rubles a month.
YouTube Premium
The more expensive YouTube Premium includes paid access to YouTube Music, removes ads from YouTube and allows you to download videos to your smartphone for offline viewing. The sound from the clips is played even in the background.
Subscribers get access to the original YouTube Originals series and shows. Now there are several dozen of them, but for the most part they do not even have Russian subtitles. No shows are planned for Russia yet.
The cost of an individual version of YouTube Premium is 199 rubles per month, for a family - 299 rubles.
The official launch of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium in Russia has already taken place, but so far the services are not available to everyone. The situation is likely to change in the near future.
