The new Prompter app helps you learn English with popular podcasts with English subtitles and translations.
Learning English is still relevant, and there are more and more ways to do this day by day. An interesting approach was demonstrated by the developers of the service "", offering to learn the language using podcasts with subtitles.
Former Yandex employees Yuri Vorontsov and Yuri Ananyev are behind the creation of Prompter. They have been hatching the idea of the service since 2014, but only got to the direct implementation last summer. Now the app of the same name is already available in the App Store. An Android version is on the way and should be out before the end of the year.
Prompter offers listening to English-language podcasts (TED, 6 Minute English and others) with English subtitles. Audio files and texts for them are loaded from open sources, and contextual translation of words and phrases is created automatically using open tools: Yandex and PROMT dictionaries, as well as a syntactic parser.
The authors of the application are confident that their creation will help to better perceive English speech by ear, and the text translation will clarify the meaning of unfamiliar words.
All podcasts and texts to them are saved in the device memory. You can listen to them without translation without restrictions. When using the free version of the application, you can receive up to ten translations of words or phrases per day. You will have to pay 249 rubles per month or 1,190 rubles per year for unlimited access to the transfer.
