Today, the heading of workplaces is not just one guest, but an entire office, functioning on the principle of a coworking center. Put your business aside - an exciting excursion to the Netology company awaits you.
What do you do in your work?
The Netology project recently celebrated two years of its existence, but now we boldly call ourselves a startup with a three-month history.
The fact is that we remained an educational project, but at the same time completely restructured our concept of working in the market. Experiments with different types of education, in the end, gave a clear picture of what is needed in the training of Internet specialists and what kind of specialists the Internet sphere is waiting for. We have abandoned short-term courses and seminars in favor of full-fledged training programs for various specialties. We deliberately gave preference to online education, expanded the geography of our presence, created a unique training methodology and made our own educational platform.
We teach online specialties online, so it is not surprising that 70% of our employees work remotely, and the remaining 30% use this opportunity from time to time. A computer, laptop, less often a tablet and a phone are guides to the team, our allies in our work.
What does your workplace look like?
How many employees, so many types of jobs.:) There are quite exotic ones. In the small collection of photographs accompanying this interview, it is likely that the director's chair and the designer's seat are easily recognized. But to accurately determine the laptop of a curator, marketer, technical director and programmer, probably only the most attentive ones will succeed.
A minimalist photography with a small MacBook Air 11 and a glass without water certainly catches the eye. This is how the workplace of our head of the web direction Sergei Filimonov looks like: “The most important thing for me in work and in life in general is a minimum of distractions and mobility. What can be seen in the photo can be thrown into a backpack in 10 seconds and left with complete confidence that everything you need is at hand."
Sometimes you can also take advantage of the opportunity to work remotely and extend your summer.
What kind of hardware do you use?
As you can see from the previous pictures, we do not have a single corporate requirement for technology. Everything is dictated by the need for work, a reasonable desire for comfort and an increased focus on reliability.
Laptop - preferably lightweight, nimble and with a good screen. We often spend more than eight hours at work. Our collection includes MacBook Air, Toshiba Satellite Ultrabooks, Lenovo and HP.
Much more carefully choose video cameras for broadcasts and headsets. This equipment park is regularly updated and replenished. Of the latest headsets tested, I was impressed by the Plantronics GameCom 780. Good surround sound of the headphones combined with an excellent noise canceling microphone.
What software are you using?
A complete "zoo" in technology leaves its mark on software. Operating systems, office versions, even browsers are found in all stripes. Most often, this is the software that came with the equipment. Corporate standards mainly govern our collaboration tools. And this:
1. Corporate mail on Google, Calendar and collaboration with text documents on Google Drive. Of course, it is not easy to maintain order in the Disk space, but with a certain frequency we carry out raids, sending materials to the archive, and sometimes the whole world rushes in search of the missing file. But these are not questions about the organization of the Disk, but rather about the difficulties of any joint work with materials. Nevertheless, almost 95% of all work is done here. Actually, only those employees who work with presentations have the need to install Microsoft office.
2. Long-term media files, graphics and documents are stored on our corporate Dropbox. We got used to it, it's very convenient.
3. Skype is our everything! Here we also have general meetings, meetings of departments, negotiations with contractors and even congratulations on holidays and birthdays. With him, of course, you have to learn to live. At one time, there was even a persistent expression "work on Skype" that wandered around the office. If you do not plan working hours and do not use the ability to change statuses, then Skype from an ally can easily turn into a distracting irritant that interferes with concentration.
4. Now we are looking at and implementing Trello into work, we are pleased with the simplicity and clarity.
5. Pixelmator is a lightweight Photoshop replacement if you occasionally need to edit photos and pictures, it's a great choice on Mac. For ordinary needs on Windows, Gimp is enough.
Often employees have Evernote, but this is already beyond the standards. For meetings, we tried the possibility of a video meeting through Google - it is quite a working tool, so, most likely, this was not our only experience.
Is there a place for paper in your work?
Unfortunately, electronic signatures are not yet widely used and the Agreement has to be printed.:) All other documents have been converted to electronic form. The presence of a notepad for writing is already a personal matter and an employee's addiction. Someone creates and thinks, drawing diagrams on paper, but someone does not do this anymore.
Is there a dream configuration?
Uninterrupted Internet in our case is a bigger dream than productive hardware. Every day we create everything else for ourselves - working conditions, mood in the team, involvement in the creation of an important supra-industry educational project.
