Game of Thrones: What Happened in Episode 4 of Season 8

The fourth episode of the eighth season was released on May 6. The largest battle in the series ended, but Game of Thrones continued to cut it alive (in the literal sense): viewers saw the death of their favorite characters, intrigue behind the queen's back - and only Jon Snow, as always, knows nothing.

Caution: This article contains spoilers! If you haven't watched Episode 4 of Season 8 yet, here are 50 Things You Didn't Know About Game of Thrones

What the audience was waiting for

Explaining the goals of the Night King

After Arya plunged a dagger into the King's stomach, the audience was outraged that the character was taken out of the game without explaining his motivation. Some fans believe that the Night King has a successor or that he himself may return in some way. Others do not give up hope just to see a logical explanation of his desire to kill all people.

Taking stock of the long night

The northerners had to light many funeral pyres to pay their last respects to the defenders of Winterfell. The fate of some of the characters was in question, and everyone was eagerly awaiting news. The audience worried about Samwell, who received many wounds, the direwolf Ghost, lost in the heat of the battle, and the Daenerys dragons, badly battered by their dead brother.

Offensive to King's Landing

The next battle should take place in the south. Before engaging in battle with Cersei and Euron, Daenerys had to not only gather strength, but also settle disagreements with the North, who did not want to submit to her too much.

Danny needs support more than ever: her army has lost the Dothraki and part of the impeccable. In addition to the Starks, she can only count on help from the Iron Islands. Yara Greyjoy and the Ironborn loyal to her will gladly oppose Euron.

Cersei's revenge

Melissandre said to Arya

After Arya killed the King of the Night, viewers began to hope that she would remove other villains from her path. Now the prophecy of Melisandre from the third season sparkled with new colors.

The priestess predicted that Arya would cover many brown, blue and green eyes. Walder Frey had brown, blue - at the King of the Night and his thousands of wigs, and with green eyes, for now, it is Cersei, who is on the girl's list, looking at the viewer.

Bronn's meetings with the Lannister brothers

The mercenary still hadn't made it to Winterfell, and many fans thought he should make his move in Episode 4. On the way, Bronn had plenty of time to think, but what decision he made remained a mystery.

Some were sure that he would outplay Cersei and, taking the money, would not kill Jaime and Tyrion. Others suggested that, as a true mercenary, he still loves money more and can easily deal with the "traitorous brothers" with the same crossbow, from which the youngest of them killed his father.

What happened in the fourth episode of the eighth season

North mourns the defenders

SPOILER #GameofThrones

Me: on this episode I will not cry

Outside the walls of Winterfell, the endless ranks of the funeral pyres of its defenders rise. People say goodbye to their fallen friends, including Jorah and Lyanna Mormont, Berik Dondarrion, Addison Tollet. John makes a speech, and the last honors are given to the dead. By the way, the direwolf Ghost, for whose fate the fans were so worried, is still alive, albeit pretty battered.

Gendry becomes lord

A feast in honor of victory resembles a commemoration for those who fell in battle. But Daenerys decides to add some joy to him: she unexpectedly asks the blacksmith about his roots, and when Gendry thinks that he is facing death, the queen suddenly names him the lord of the Storm's End. With such a generous gesture, she eliminates one of the legitimate contenders for the Iron Throne.

Daenerys sees John as a rival

OH SMELLED FRIED, DANI HAS CALLS IN JON'S HEAD

Khaleesi thinks a lot about John's words and looks with jealousy at the love with which wildlings, lords and common people of the North accept him. Tormund does not have time to drink to the dragon queen, when he immediately begins to admire Snow and praise him.

Daenerys realizes that if people find out about John's true origins, then her lover will become a threat to her. She asks John to take an oath from Bran and Samwell to keep their secret a secret. John agrees, but still decides to open up to the sisters - but the queen doesn't like this idea too much.

Arya refuses Gendry, and Brienne makes a choice

The newly minted Lord Gendry is looking for Arya. He confesses his love to her and makes a marriage proposal, but the girl rejects him, arguing that she is not a lady and never was.

Jaime turns out to be luckier: after playing truth or lies with Brienne, he finds out that she is a virgin and spends the night with her. Seeing this, Tormund declares that his heart is broken - but quickly finds solace in the arms of a random northerner.

Allies planning a siege of King's Landing

After a long night, the dragon queen's troops had noticeably thinned out. The Dothraki and half of the Unsullied have died, but Yara Greyjoy has taken over the Iron Islands, and the new prince of Dorn pledges his support.

The advisers convince Daenerys not to destroy the city and take it by siege. According to the plan, the dragons must burn the fleet, and the ground forces must defeat Cersei's mercenary army. Sansa asks for a break for the fighters, but Danny insists on an urgent attack, and John supports her.

Starks call brother to talk

Family before …….oh that's right….errrr ummm…. I mean siblings before aunts! #GameofThrones #Starks

After the advice, Arya blocks John's path and calls for a talk. The sisters reiterate their distrust of the Dragon Queen and the need to protect the interests of the family. In response, Jon Snow raises his eyebrows and says that they are not such a family, or rather, instructs him to tell his secret to Bran.

Bronn meets Jaime and Tyrion

Tyrion demands from Jaime to tell about the night with Brienne, but their conversation is stopped by Bronn who has appeared from nowhere with a crossbow at the ready. The mercenary lays it all out: he does not believe in Cersei's victory and is looking for another way to get gold and a castle. Bargaining with the brothers, the thug agrees to spare them in exchange for Highgarden.

John says goodbye to friends

Snow leaves Winterfell with Davos Seaworth and ground troops. Before leaving, John hugs Sam and a pregnant Lilly. He says goodbye to Tormund, who, together with the wildlings, goes beyond the Wall, and asks the red-bearded hero to look after the wounded Ghost.

Arya leaves Winterfell

The dog goes to Westeros to finish the last thing: for sure he is going to deal with the brother he hates. Suddenly, he is accompanied by Arya: she does not want to enjoy the glory of the heroine and wants to delete a person from her list - of course, this is Cersei.

Danny loses his second dragon

Rhaegal gets sniped out of mid air.

SAM SURVIVED THE BATTLE OF WINTERFELL.

Wtf. #GameOfThrones #Rhaegal

The dragons Rhaegal and Drogon, on which Daenerys is riding, fly to Westeros. But suddenly the queen is ambushed: the khalisi completely forgot about Euron's Iron fleet, which was waiting for her with a huge crossbow. Cersei's lover fires a pair of arrows and kills Rhaegal, hitting him in the chest and neck. Euron's ships attack Danny's fleet, some of her people die, and Missandei is taken prisoner.

Cersei offer to surrender

A clash of (mad) Queens.

The cruel queen opens the gates of the Red Castle for the commoners under the guise of her love for her subjects, but in fact she just hides behind them, using the people as a human shield. While waiting for the infantry, Varys advises Daenerys to invite Cersei to surrender and gain life in exchange for the throne.

Missandei is executed

Negotiations fail: Tyrion cannot agree with Qyburn, approaches the walls of King's Landing and addresses his sister directly, reminding her that she is not a monster and knows how to be merciful. Tyrion, you were wrong: Cersei only invites Missandei to say the last word and silently nods to Grief. After the girl says "Drakaris", the giant zombie decapitates her and pushes her off the wall.

What will happen next

Everyone will forget about the King of the Night

Not everyone shares the decision of the writers about the completion of the line of one of the main antiheroes, but it seems that it is final and irrevocable. Nobody will remember more about the dead and winter, and all the attention of the main characters will focus on the new old threat - Cersei.

Varys will claim John's rights

A cunning adviser who served many kings, initially did not share the opinion that Daenerys could become a worthy queen. Now his doubts are so great that he is ready to betray and reveal the truth about John and his origin. The eunuch puts the interests of the Seven Kingdoms above all else and will do everything so that the people (and most importantly, Varys himself) receive a ruler who can lead them to prosperity.

Northern Infantry will fight the Golden Swords

The first clash with Cersei's troops is hardly a success for Daenerys's army, but the answer to the usurper who executed her best friend will be harsh. The teaser footage for the next episode hints at the battle of the land forces of the northerners led by John with the Golden Swords. At the council of war, Varys stated that the forces have leveled off, so the outcome is difficult to predict.

Yara Greyjoy will take revenge on Euron

An equally hot battle will unfold at sea. With a huge crossbow, Cersei's favorite feels invulnerable, but he should be afraid of threats not only from the air, but also from the water. Yara had already taken over the Iron Isles and regained the loyalty of the Ironborn. Now the brave warrior hurries to King's Landing to deal with her traitorous uncle.

The dog will meet the Mountain

Game of Thrones fans, who will die first?

The Mountain -450

The Hound +300

In a conversation with Arya, Clegan did not specify what kind of unfinished business he had in the capital, but we know who haunts him. Fans have been waiting for the Dog-Mountain duel for a long time, and it seems that their expectations will finally come true.

Where the plot is heading, we will find out from the next episode, which will be released in a week - on May 13.
