The main feature of the Skilhunt H03 is a highly efficient driver that produces bright light without visible ripple in all modes. He is responsible for temperature and discharge control and programming of operating modes.

The head of the flashlight is equipped with a heat sink, so that overheating is excluded even at maximum power. In addition, the product uses a special electrical circuit to ensure the lowest standby leakage current. Therefore, the flashlight can lie idle for a long time, but the battery in it is practically not discharged.

As a battery, you can use two CR123A batteries or an 18650 battery. The latter option is, of course, preferable.

The flashlight comes in a colored box made of thick cardboard. Inside there is a plastic mold with space for a flashlight and space for additional accessories. This is a head mount, a branded lanyard, a clip and two O-rings, which are responsible for the moisture protection of the threaded connection.

The flashlight can be used both in manual and head-on mode. For this, a universal elastic band and a rubber mount are provided. The flashlight is inserted into it in a matter of seconds and holds securely. The button is at the top, so it's easy to turn on the flashlight and instantly switch between modes.

Appearance and assembly

Unlike conventional flashlights, Skilhunt H03 is equipped with a side reflector. That is why it can be used as a forehead. The body of the lantern is compact in size and light in weight. It is made of anodized aluminum and covered with small diamond-shaped notches, thanks to which it fits perfectly in the hand.

The head of the flashlight is slightly thicker than the body. On one of its edges there is a high-quality TIR-optics, next to it is a rubber button for switching modes, secured by a metal ring screwed into the case. The button is made of translucent rubber, as an additional LED is installed inside, which signals the battery discharge.

On the back there is a radiator grill to dissipate the heat emitted by the high-power LED.

In general, Skilhunt H03 looks unusual, but interesting. All surfaces are well finished, chips and burrs are absent. It is convenient to hold the flashlight in the hand; when using the headlamp, there is no discomfort either.

Control

There are several modes of illumination, switching between which is carried out by the button. Some modes are activated with a single button press, others with a double or even triple click.

A single short press in the off state activates the last used mode. A long press on the button in the same state will turn on the flashlight at minimum brightness. A double click activates the turbo mode, in which the lamp gives out the maximum luminous flux.

In the on state, the transition between the modes occurs with a short press on the button. There are four of them: minimum → medium → maximum → turbo. Each of them has an additional lightweight version, which can be activated by double-clicking the button. It turns out that Skilhunt H03 has eight brightness levels.

But that's not all. For emergencies, the flashlight has three signal modes: SOS, beacon and strobe. To turn them on, you need to quickly press the button three times while it is on.

Another handy feature is lock mode. If you hold down the button for a few seconds, the flashlight will not react to anything. This will protect the device from being accidentally turned on while being carried.

Please note that in lock mode, the button may be slightly illuminated by the built-in LED. This backlight consumes almost no energy, but you can always easily find your flashlight in the dark.

Testing

The Skilhunt H03 flashlight uses special TIR optics, which provide a wide and uniform beam of light. Together with a powerful LED from the American company Cree Inc. this allows the flashlight to be used both at long distances and at close ones.

During testing, we liked the large brightness range of the flashlight when working in various modes. At minimum power, there is only enough light to see objects in close proximity. But on the other hand, the flashlight can work in this mode for several weeks.

In the maximum brightness mode, the beam shines for about 30-40 meters. Ample distance for almost any situation. But you should not use the flashlight in this mode for a long time: the battery will be discharged in just a few hours.

We did not have any complaints about the water resistance of the device. The test sample withstood swimming in water without any problems, so you can safely use the Skilhunt H03 in any bad weather.

Skilhunt H03 is one of the best deals for those who have already outgrown disposable Chinese flashlights from the nearest market, but are not yet ready to shell out hundreds of dollars for branded professional devices.

The flashlight is perfectly assembled, fits well in the hand and is no less convenient when used in the forehead version. High-quality LED and TIR optics provide soft, uniform light, the power of which can be adjusted using built-in modes.
