August's 10 Top TV Shows: Lovecraft Country, Rain Finale and Lucifer Returns

The August lull and postponements due to the pandemic almost devastated the prime minister's schedule. But there are still some interesting projects.

August premieres

1. Little birds

In the mid-1950s, American Lucy Savage comes to Tangier with her husband-to-be. She is trying to sort out her personal life and escape from the rules imposed by society. Her fiancé is torn between her and her local lover. And the influential Moroccan dominatrix Sheriff Lamour is fighting for her independence.

The series is based on a series of erotic stories published posthumously by the famous Anais Nin. As in the original, the plot will intertwine the personal relationships of several characters and the political intrigues associated with the annexation of the Tangier international zone.

2. Star Trek: Lower Decks

The action of the next project, based on the world of "Star Trek", takes place in 2380. The plot tells about the routine work of the support service on the smallest ship in the space fleet.

Previously, there was only one animated series in the entire huge franchise, released in 1973. Now one of the writers and producers of "Rick and Morty" Mike McMahan has decided to release a humorous animation project.

3. Wizards: Tales of Arcadia

The residents of the town of Arcadia Oaks must join forces for the last time to prevent a massive war between humans, monsters and aliens who are looking for a way to manipulate magic.

This is the third part of Guillermo del Toro's animation project. Previously released "Troll Hunters" and "Three from Heaven." Now the story of Arcadia must end.

4. Ted Lasso

An American football coach who works at a Kansas college gets an unusual offer. He travels to England to lead a local team to success. But she plays classic football, and the hero does not understand it at all.

This project was created by the famous screenwriter Bill Lawrence, author of "The Clinic" and "City of Predators." The main role was played by comedian Jason Sudeckis, known for his Saturday Night Live TV show and two parts of Horrible Bosses.

5. Lovecraft Country

A dark-skinned Atticus, accompanied by his uncle George and friend Letitia, sets off on a trip to the USA in the 1950s. He tries to find his father, but on the way the heroes encounter dangerous racists and supernatural monsters.

Contrary to its name, the series is only indirectly related to the work of Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The project is based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, released in 2016.

6. Biohackers

• Detective, fantastic.
• Germany, 2020.
• Premiere date: August 20.

Mia enters the medical faculty of a prestigious university, where she teaches a female professor related to the death of the heroine's brother. Understanding the circumstances of the incident, she plunges into the world of genetic experiments and biohacking.

This German Netflix series has already been called the new "Darkness". It is not known whether the project will be able to repeat the success of its predecessor, but the authors clearly want to show a story in which fiction is mixed with personal stories and detective stories.

1. Rain

It is already known that the third season of the Danish project Netflix will be the final one, which means that viewers are waiting for answers to all the questions of the series.

2. Open sea

Sisters Eva and Carolina Villanueva set sail from Spain to Brazil on a luxury liner. On the way, they have to investigate a murder and unravel other mysteries. It turns out that every passenger has something to hide.

In the season 2 finale, the heroines' journey is over. But, it seems, they are waiting for a new voyage and new secrets, and now spies and a deadly virus are involved in the case.

3. Lucifer

The main character of the series is Lucifer Morningstar, the ruler of the underworld. Tired of his duties, he moved to Los Angeles. After meeting detective Chloe Decker, the hero decides to change his life.

So far, only half of the fifth season will be released. At the same time, the project was extended in advance for the sixth.

4. Thieves
