How "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" will delight fans of Marvel films

A superhero show may seem too typical and predictable. But he entertains with dynamics and staging.

On March 19, the second MCU series was launched on the Disney + streaming service. After the experimental project "Wanda / Vision", which combined references to sitcoms with a tragic plot, "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" can be considered a return to more traditional movie comics.

So far, the first series has come out, and we can only guess about further development. But you can already understand what advantages the series has and how it can hook the audience.

Everyday life of superheroes

In the movie "Avengers: Endgame" Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, decided to stay in the past, lived a happy life with Peggy Carter and, who had already grown old, passed his shield to his friend and partner Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), known as the Falcon. But he decided not to become the new Captain America and continued to help the special services in his suit with wings, and left the shield in the museum as a memory of the hero.

Meanwhile, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), aka the Winter Soldier, is trying to pay off all his debts for past sins. He seeks out the former employees of Hydra, but does not kill them, but turns them over to the authorities. However, he is still tormented by visions from the days when he worked for the villains.

The first episode of the series looks exactly like an introduction to future events. The main characters don't even meet here. Although it is already known that they will again have to face Helmut Zemo, who spoiled a lot of blood superheroes in the movie "The First Avenger: Confrontation".

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have to join forces. Judging by the first episode, this case will be connected with the investigations of each of them. Sam's colleague goes to a mysterious criminal organization, and Bucky finds names in his old notebook.

But for now, the show's writers are trying to fill one annoying gap in the films. They reveal how superheroes live in their free time from saving the world. And that makes the characters that much more alive.

It turns out that Sokol is not very good with money, and even worldwide fame does not help him support his family. And the Winter Soldier still cannot get used to the modern world: he lives as an outcast and does not understand at all how to meet girls now.

Already from the full-length films, where each of them acted only as a minor character, it was clear that there was a lot to tell about Sam and Bucky. And finally, the series provides an opportunity to learn more about their lives.

Cool action

But, of course, the project does not turn into a social drama. On the contrary, it seems to compensate for the experimental presentation of Wanda / Vision, where at least some action began only in the final. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series is a typical Marvel project during the first and second phases of the MCU. There is a completely predictable development of events and a lot of drive built on computer graphics.

The first episode opens with a ten-minute scene in which Falcon single-handedly deals with a group of terrorists who hijacked an airplane. As usual, everything looks as unrealistic as possible, contrary to any laws of physics. But on the other hand, fights, flights and skirmishes are staged very dynamically. The chase of a hero flying on his wings after criminals in skydiving suits is literally breathtaking.

Bucky is not yet allowed to turn around, but for sure in future episodes and he will be given a portion of the action. So those who have missed the Other War style spy action will surely be satisfied.

The perspective of a real buddy movie

So far, one can only guess about the upcoming reunion of the heroes. But both the trailers and the synopsis itself hint that the series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" will become a typical story of partners. The heroes have been friends since the airport brawl in Confrontation. They are still united by the memory of Steve Rogers.

Surely this will build not only most of the action, but also a considerable share of the humor of the series. The characters of Sam and Bucky are completely different, so even in the promo videos, the characters make fun of each other. So the Falcon and the Winter Soldier is more likely to be compared to Lethal Weapon and other action films from the 1980s, and this genre will go very much into history.

Wanda / Vision was all about surprises and unpredictability. The new project looks like the complete opposite. Chances are, there won't be many sudden twists and turns in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But on the other hand, he will delight fans with perfectly staged fights and shootings and a bright history of partners.
