Amazon Prime plans to release a massive project based on the famous series of books.

Since the end of Game of Thrones, all the major channels and streaming services have taken on the filming of well-known fantasy book series. Netflix has released the first season of The Witcher, HBO has created Dark Beginnings and is planning Game of Thrones prequels.

Amazon Prime has taken on several similar projects at once. First of all, everyone is discussing the Lord of the Rings series. But apart from that, the service will film the adaptation of The Wheel of Time, a cycle by Robert Jordan, consisting of 14 novels.

The world of "Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan is huge and elaborate. This is a universe where everything is subject to the principle of cyclicality: epochs replace each other, repeating themselves through certain periods, and reincarnation is an integral part of existence. The times of the books themselves are reminiscent of the Middle Ages.

Moiraine Damodred will be in the center of the plot. She represents the Order of the Aes Sedai, a female community capable of manipulating the One Power. The heroine finds three friends - Rand al'Tor, Perrin Aybar and Mat Coughton - and saves them from the hostile creatures of the trollocs.

One of Moiraine's new acquaintances should be the Dragon Reborn - the reincarnation of an ancient warrior. And it is he who will defeat the sinister Dark One.

The first season of the series will be based on the book "The Eye of the World", with which the entire cycle began. At the same time, the project has already been extended in advance for a second season. No official promotional materials have appeared yet, as work on the "Wheel of Time" began only in September 2019. But there are already the first shots from the shooting.

Who will play in the TV series "Wheel of Time"

Amazon has already announced the series' main cast. It has several stars, but a significant part of the artists are not very well known to the public. The main role will be played by Rosamund Pike, known for "Gone Girl", "Die Another Day" and many other films.

The roles of her companions went to lesser known artists. Randa al'Tora will play Yosh Stradowski (Just Friends), Perrin Ibaru - Marcus Rutherford (Obey), Mat Coughton - Barney Harris (The Empty Crown).
