We all tend to go to extremes in search of pleasure, rather than sticking to the golden mean, although this is what makes our life truly happy. Therefore, we offer you a list of simple actions that will help you make your life more balanced and learn to live in harmony with yourself and the world around you.

1. Play more often

This strange, at first glance, advice plays a very important role in feeling your own happiness and success. So make sure to take the time to play.

What are the benefits? You can't count them. From great joy, which is a very strong emotion, to strengthening bonds with family and friends. Games are a good way to feel comfortable and help you not to take yourself too seriously.

Think back to some of the games you've loved to play before, and schedule this activity in your schedule for the next two weeks - don't put it off on the back burner. And you yourself will understand why games are so useful.

2. Use mind maps

Fun fact: The first person to start using mind maps was Leonardo da Vinci. Yes, he was far ahead of his time. Mind mapping is a great tool for balancing the right and left brain hemispheres, and this, in turn, greatly affects your overall health. How to learn how to create and work with mind maps, you can learn from.

To begin with, there are a few key aspects to keep in mind:

  • Use a large sheet of paper, do not restrict the flow of thoughts.
  • The more colors the better.
  • Underline and capitalize words as needed.
  • Combine elements.
  • Draw, this includes creativity.
  • Come up with interesting and memorable phrases.
  • Start from the center (be sure to highlight it), where you put the main idea or the name of the project.
  • Many people advise to write one word at a time, but it is better to limit yourself to three words per paragraph.

3. Take time to walk

Walking is very beneficial, especially if you are not a particularly athletic person or work all day sitting in an office. Regular walking for just a week can significantly reduce depression.

We are all part of the environment, so it is important to remember that in order to feel happy, we must take advantage of and contact with the world around us, including with nature around us. Walking along alleys, parks and forests can become a real hobby. And if you are bored of just walking around and staring around, here are some recommendations:

  • Listen to audiobooks on the way.
  • Make plans for the future.
  • Count your steps.
  • Dream, mentally set goals.

Life hack: walk barefoot on the grass from time to time. This is not only pleasant, but also helps to harden the body and improve blood circulation.

4. Take a weekend away every month

The pace of life is accelerating, there are more things to do, and it is difficult (but possible) to find a balance between work and travel. We have already written how to manage to work and travel. Make it a rule to go out of your hometown with your family and / or friends at least once a month. You must do this for yourself, because in our everyday affairs, many of us forget that people are not iron, we all need to sleep, rest, get out into nature, eat well, have fun and take time out from time to time.

You can't afford whole weekends or trips because it's expensive? Take a walk nearby, disconnect from everything related to work. But keep in mind that it's not easy the first time.

As soon as you disconnect from everyday activities and habits, great ideas immediately come to mind. And that's not counting interesting discoveries, new places and acquaintances.

5. Draw

We have already mentioned that drawing is good for achieving a balance between the left hemisphere, which is responsible for logic, analysis, language abilities, and the right hemisphere, which is responsible for imagination, intuition, emotions, spatial orientation. When drawing, both hemispheres are involved at once.

6. Eat out once a month

Some will say: "Just once?", While others: "I can't afford to do this so often" or "I like homemade food more." But we're here to find a balance.

Homemade food is good, but sometimes we need someone else to take care of everything while we enjoy the good company.

Allow yourself to dine once a month in a nice restaurant and don't worry about anything, because you really deserve to relax a little.

And during this time, please, no phone calls or SMS. Just take a rest, do not rely on alcohol - one glass of good wine is enough to make you feel better.

7. Don't give up on vacation

Despite the fact that work is an important part of every person's life, it cannot replace everything, and sometimes you need to put it aside and spend time on yourself. Once or twice a year we have the opportunity to dispose of the time at our discretion.

Taking some time to rest will make you a happier and more contented person. And, perhaps, it is precisely such emotions that you lack in order to find the strength in yourself to translate ideas and dreams into reality. A good emotional shake is sometimes more important than work, which is why you need at least one week of vacation.

Sometimes you need to give in to the impulse, and not put off the rest for later. Because when you come back full of energy, everything will sparkle with new colors. After all, often a short vacation is all you need.

8. Dress brightly

Tackle your wardrobe with enthusiasm. If you want beneficial changes in your state of mind, start with the easy way - diversify your usual clothes and add new colors.

A balanced life is a happy life, and in order for you to feel happy, your clothes must be appropriate.

It is not easy to feel happy if you wear everything in black, brown or gray day in and day out.

Be more expressive, try wearing a bright green or yellow tee, or a pair of red sneakers. Afraid to sound funny? Start small. A man can try wearing colorful socks, or a striped tie, or just a bright shawl in his jacket pocket. A woman, depending on her style, can start with a bright wallet, a scarf around her neck, or a pair of shoes.

9. Eat natural foods

Fortunately or unfortunately, we are what we eat. Much of how we feel depends on what we eat and drink. Even small dietary changes can produce significant results. It is better to gradually add healthy foods to your diet than to give up all unhealthy foods at once.

Try adding 1-2 healthy foods to your regular diet every week, and you will soon realize that you are not so hungry for something unhealthy, since your body has become accustomed to a different diet. The process of replacing harmful products with useful ones is easier, because it does not encounter psychological barriers on its way.

Change is easier than you think. A group of scientists from Sweden that if you eat natural, organic food, then the level of pesticides in two weeks is reduced by 95%. This is good news, because even if you have eaten unhealthy foods all your life, in just two weeks you can get rid of all the adverse effects.

It doesn't matter how much you eat, it matters how nutritious your food is. By purchasing from trusted local suppliers, you can add nutritional value to your meals. This means you can eat less while feeling great. Plus, by supporting local producers, you won't be overpaying to large companies that make a significant mark-up.

10. Get rid of all the unnecessary

Many people get hung up on what they own. But they cannot get rid of the feeling of emptiness in any way. They can be summed up in one phrase: “I don’t have enough!”, And no matter how rich they are, they will always need more and more.

If you deliberately discard old things, throw away the bad ones, and donate the good ones to charities, you are making room for something new.

Get into a good habit: if you haven't worn or used something for 12 months, give and give it away without any regrets. Rest assured you are not losing anything.

Forgiveness is also a way to get rid of unnecessary things. To move on in life, you need to leave some of your baggage behind. Only in this way can you become free.

There are many ways to make your life happier and more balanced, but not all are easy. Anything happens in life, there is a lot of good in it, a lot of bad. And if we strive for balance, then sooner or later we will be able to take all the blows of fate with dignity and sincerely rejoice in everything good. We hope this article will be useful to you and will be able to open your eyes to those possibilities that you did not know about before.
